Bernice looked at Rojan, he shook his head, signaling no. The doorbell sounded for the second time. She ignored him and turned toward the door. He quickly rose up and held her by the hand. She opened her mouth to speak, and he placed his hands over her mouth, shaking his head. "Do you think she is home?" one voice spoke from outside. "I saw her bathroom light on from across the street, I could see her shower," another said. "Then why is she not answering the door?" a third voice grumbled. "Seems she might have gone to bed. Whatever let's break in," the first voice suggested. When she heard that, she let out a silent gasp and looked at Rojan who immediately swung into action. Closing the suitcase, he secured the locks. With the suitcase in one hand, he pulled her into her bedroom. He quickly shoved the suitcase under her bed, then he took out a boning knife from his waistband. He whispered to her "Get under the bed and stay there, no matter what you hear, do not come out." She was bothered about what was going on, there were three men outside her door, currently fiddling with her lock, trying to gain entry into her house. They sounded like they wanted trouble, now this stranger was pulling out a knife from his pocket to confront them. It was three against one, how would he manage? She didn't even know if she trusted him yet, she had only just met him. "I can call the cops, but my phone is in the living room," she mouthed silently to him. He refused "This is not what they can handle. Now get under and stay there," he ordered silently then turned to leave, as if making a decision, he caught the helm of his inner shirt and ripped apart a long piece, then secured it around her eyes, blind-folding her. She resisted the blindfold but he whispered "You don't need to see this," in a steely tone as he knotted the piece of cloth behind her head and then guided her under the bed. Though the material was firm, she noticed it was not as thick, because she could still make out images through it, though it was unclear. From her position under the bed, she watched him switch off the lights in her bathroom and living room. Rendering the apartment in total darkness, he blended into the darkness. His movements had gone quiet, total stillness filled the atmosphere, and the only noise was the faint picking of her door locks and the hammering of her heartbeat. After a few more seconds, her door cracked open and the men walked in. Their movements made loud noises, disturbing the stillness. "Why is the house in total darkness? I thought you said you saw her bathroom light from across the street Tom," one said. "I saw it, maybe the lady is trying to save on power. Switch the light on Garry," another said. "Trying to already, but…aah!" a sharp scream erupted then it was cut off abruptly. "Garry? s**t, is this blood? His neck has been cut clean!" one voice exclaimed. "Someone is here with us, but we couldn't smell it. Be on alert-" the voice cut mid-sentence. "Tom? Oh s**t, show yourself you fucker-" the voice trailed off as a loud crash, sounded across the room. Bernice could not see much due to the darkness and her blindfold; she could only make out obscure movements in the dark. When the place had grown quiet once more, she heard light steps approach her bed. She froze, and then she heard that calm steely voice call out to her. "You can come out now, but keep the blindfold on," he drawled. She began to crawl out from under the bed, and when she had come out fully, he reached down and pulled the suitcase from under the bed. "What happened to the men?" she asked curiously. "I took care of them. We would have to leave immediately; I do not know if this was all of them or others might arrive shortly." He advised. "Where are we going?" she inquired. "Somewhere safe. Now I will guide you out of your apartment, do not peek under your blindfold," he warned as he took hold of her right hand and began to lead her out. As they passed the living room, curiosity made her use a finger from her free hand to bring down the edge of her blindfolds a few inches, and she took a sneak peek of her living room. The sight she saw shocked her. Three headless bodies lay sprawled on the floor of her living room.
