Candice shivered from the cold. She had dozed off when Wayne had jumped off his balcony with the severed arm tucked away under his armpit, off to God knows where. Now she stirred in her sleep, gradually waking up as the thin blanket was not doing much to block out the cold. Her eyes fluttered lazily, as she roused from her slumber. A deep sneeze overwhelmed her and she gave in to it, her abdomen bowing strongly as she jerked. When the wave was over, she was fully awake. She noticed that it was almost morning, the rains had stopped, the rays of the sun had begun to lighten the sky and insects were loudly chirping in excitement at the new dawn. She tried to sit up, but her hands were tightly restrained by a rope to the head of the bed. Yeah right, she rolled her eyes, she had forgotten she was being punished. But she had been this way for the better part of the night and her arms were beginning to ache. Her muscles had gone taught with the permanent stretch and she itched to free her arms. Where the hell was he? From the corner of her eye, she saw two blue highlights, like fluorescent bulbs beaming from behind the white linen curtains rails, obscuring his balcony. Candice almost let out a surprised scream, but a sense of familiarity calmed her. She had seen those eyes before, they were ice cold, menacing, and calculating like those of a predator. This time around, it just seemed to be watching her quietly, like a treasure, relishing his possession. "Wayne? Is that you?" she called out softly. As if pulling himself from a reverie, he shook his head to clear it and came out from behind the curtain. "When did you get back?" she asked. Without saying a word, he staggered into the room. Blood was splattered everywhere around his body. She cringed "Are you h-hurt?" He shook his head hard once again, struggling to clear it, and then looked down on himself "It's not mine" he said and then walked into the bathroom. "It belongs to an entire island of sirens," he said over his shoulder. Candice sucked in a breath. She could not have heard right; he did not just tell her he had murdered an island of people. Okay, they were not people per se, but they were living, breathing creatures whose lives had just ended because of her. After a few minutes of the shower running, it stopped signaling he was done having his bath. He walked out of the bathroom fully naked and wet. He hadn't bothered to use a towel. Her eyes roamed over his body, such a beautiful sight to behold. She had seen it a few times already, but she still couldn't get used to it. Her eyes dipped to his manhood, it was very generous despite not being erect, and her palms itched to sift her fingers through it. How could one so beautiful be so hard-hearted and merciless? She averted her eyes from his body "You did not really kill an entire island of sirens, did you?" Walking over to the bed, he unshackled her arms. "Yes I did" he simply answered. "Why? Because of me? Why does killing not mean anything to you?" she cried. "I have my reasons and they are not entirely about you," he replied unperturbed. "Then why go about taking lives you didn't create?" she snatched her hands from him once he had freed them. Working her muscles to relieve the cramps, she massaged her wrists. "That was not my intention at first when I got to their island. I wanted to only punish the siren who had dared to touch what is mine. But then I saw a heap of skeletons, those sirens are not as innocent as you think. They steal suckling babies from human mothers and eat them to replenish their youth and renew their beguiling voices," he explained. Candice mouth parted; they were really terrible beings. She didn't feel sorry for them anymore, they deserved what they got. This new world was full of violence and aggression; It was a difficult place to exist in. She could not wait for six months to be up, so she could exit this callous new world forever. Speaking of which…
