Chapter 6

Leaving Fae behind again was rough, my heart throbbed in my ears the entire time I bathed her. I wanted to hold her tight and not let her go, but I had business to finish with the captain of that ship and I was not going to let any information go to waste. My brother David managed to get some information from another boatmate about who paid them to capture Fae but was unable to get any more than that before the hatchlings ate him alive.

From what we gathered so far, the man who wanted Fae was targeting something she knew nothing about, but it still boggled my mind as to what he was looking for. Was he looking for a weak spot to attack us? Was he looking for a way to get me out in the open? Was he testing a new weapon or something? I had no f*****g idea but I did know that my mate was harmed extensively because of it and I had only blamed myself at this point for her capture. I should have gone with her when she had left to deliver those invitations. The human world is cruel, but I am even worse than they could imagine and they will pay for what they did to my Fae.

I cracked my knuckles and rolled my shoulders as I walked back into the captain's cell. He was a bloody mess and I couldn't help but smile when he looked at me with fear and desperation in his eyes. "So, are you going to give me any more information? Your buddy over there wasn't able to talk long because of the same hatchling that is in you right now, sir." I pointed to an imaginary watch on my wrist. " Time is ticking. So what's it going to be? Talk? or get eaten alive slowly and painfully from the inside out?"

The captain shivered and cried out, pulling against his restraints. "I'll talk! Just get this thing out of me!"

I knelt in front of him. "Names and motives."

He huffed, his eyes shifted from side to side rapidly as he tried to recall. "Some hunter named Javier, he's from the human side of the portal. We were docked and getting ready to head back out when he approached us asking us to snatch that woman. He never gave us a solid reason, but the crate full of cash and coin were good enough for me."

"What did he want you to do with her?" I growled.

The captain gulped loudly before lowering his head. "He told us to do whatever we needed to get the information he was looking for, which again he didn't give us much to go on, so we had no idea what the hell we were to interrogate her for. But she would know the name if we mentioned it and what he was looking for."

I reached out, pinched his chin, and lifted his head to face me. "So whose f*****g idea was it to violate, rape, and torture my mate for months?" I snarled.

He yelped, closed his eyes, and pulled away from me. That was the only response I needed from a man who was full of guilt. "Not only did you violate my woman, but you had the balls to lay your hands on a fairy. One whose mate is the Dragon King. She may not condone violence, but I sure as hell do." I gripped his throat and glanced over at David who was standing in the corner. "Release his chains. I'm going to make a spectacle of him."

David quickly unlatched his chains and tossed them to the side. They landed with a heavy metal clank against the concrete floor. "Oh, this is going to be easy."

I dragged the captain to the surface and mind-linked my entire clan and had them meet me in the open field.

Come meet the son of a b***h who kidnaped your queen. It's about to be a hay day.

No one replied via mind-link but ended up landing in the field surrounding us. Loud growls and huffing encircled us.

"See captain. These men here are going to rip you to shreds in their human forms all while that little bugger that's up your ass is going to eat you from the inside out." I chuckled and tossed him into the center of the group. "Have fun with that one. Don't let him die too quickly. I want him to know what real pain feels like before he dies."

"f**k you! All of you dragons are an abomination!" he screamed at me.

I cranked my fist back and launched it straight for his face without hesitation. I laid into him before David pulled me off of him. The captain's face was already unrecognizable. "Kill him." I huffed and turned to walk toward the castle.

It was then my eyes landed on my mother and Fae. "Fuck." I sneered and ran a bloody hand through my hair. "f**k, f**k, s**t. David. Get them out of here. Now."

Fuck, Fae just watched me beat a guy to almost nothing. Is she going to be mad at me? Is she going to fear me more than she already does? Goddess, what the hell did I do?

"David, get them out of here. I need to go clean up." I pinched the bridge of my nose and looked over my shoulder. "And when you guys are done with him, make sure the field is cleaned." I shouted back at them.

My clan members were preoccupied with their current task I wasn't even sure they heard me, but from the looks of it, Reggie's hatchling was already eating his way through the captain. I scoffed and stormed off to the palace.

My thoughts seemed to be never ending, everything the captain said about this Javier character enraged me even more than the first time it came spewing out of his desperate mouth. What information was this prick looking for? There's things that I have that Fae wouldn't even know about that I have. My assets as king and my personal collection of stones and gems that cannot be found anywhere else in the world besides here.

I finally made it up the palace steps and into the grand foyer before I felt my fathers presence.

"Lou, what else do you need before we lock it down for the night?" I heard my father snort from behind me.

I stopped and turned around to face him. "I just need some time alone with my mate. I don't know how much she saw but she was on the field."

He sucked in a sharp breath, knowing that she could have seen the entire thing and that could have caused her to fear me. "Yeah, you go and do that. Keep us updated on anything else you find."

I clasped his shoulder and leaned into his side. "Hunters name is Javier. He was looking for some sort of information but we don't know what yet. Tell everyone to keep their ears to the ground and if those lousy mutts hear anything about it, they need to inform us immediately."

my father nodded and we went our separate ways. The palace was made of opal crystals with dark granite floors and windows. There was definitely a contrast when it came to the color choice. Both of my parents had their touch on the place and I liked it just the way it was. Four floors that extended over an acre and a half of the land. My clan members stayed on the 2nd and 3rd floors while my parents and brother took over the 3rd with me and my mate on the 4th. Each room had its own bathroom, kitchen, living room and multiple rooms with color coded doors based on rank and responsibilities. All members were treated with the same amount of respect, no one was below anyone when it came to basic manners around here and I liked it that way.

Light flutters echoed from the corridor ahead of me and my heart blossomed when my eyes landed on Fae. I haven't seen her in that two piece blouse set in ages. She was absolutely flawless with her curls bouncing along with every step. "Fae," was the only word that left my lips when I quickly closed the space between her and I, lifting her into my arms. "I missed you. How did the tour go?" I asked and nuzzled my head into the crook of her neck.

Fae gasped and giggled when my breath fanned her neck but her body tensed against mine shortly after. "Hi, um it... it was okay. We were just finishing up the last bit. I forgot there was a glitter pool here."

I pulled away from her and gazed into her eyes with surprise. "That's your pool silly."

Fae looked to my mother and back at me. "Wait, it's my pool? What do you mean?"

Both my mother and I chuckled. "We put that in because you missed your glitter pool that your mother had made for you as a child. Oh how I miss her." my mother said.

I saw a light bulb go off in her head and c****d my head to the side. "Sugar, is there something you need to say?"

Fae stared off into the distance for a moment. Her hazel eyes swirled. Was she recalling previous memories? If so, which ones?
