Chapter Three

1103 Words
*Analiza Valdez I curse as I look for my iPod that is suppose to be in my purse. I always have it in my purse. I don't use it a lot, only for pictures and music, and now that I needed it, I can't find it. It was a gift from Lucas. I give up trying to look for it after twenty minutes. I pull out of the parking lot of Mr. Cortez's building. I don't want to be alone right now so I decide to drive to Lucas's office. Once outside his office, I walk straight to his office, not bothering to knock. Oh, I wish I had knocked. As soon as I walk in, I find a lady riding a very naked Lucas who was seated on his desk chair. It's a good thing she had his long white doctor coat on because I really didn't need or want to see his or her junk. "You little slüts." I yell since neither of them had noticed me yet. Lucas lets out the girliest scream I had ever heard. "Ana, get out!" He throws me a shoe as I start laughing. "Okay, call me when you're not naked." I close the door just as he throws the pair of the first shoe. I hear it bang against the door. I stand in the waiting area for about eight minutes. Lucas's door finally opens, "Come in." I take notice of how red his face is and how messed up his hair is. When I enter, I see the lady sitting on the same chair but fully clothed. "Ana, how nice to see you again." Miah greets me. "Miah, I would hug you but I know where you've been." I point out. "Always the jokester, Analiza." "Ana, what are you doing here?" Lucas questions. "Real question is, why do it in your office? Kinky much?" I raise an eyebrow.  "Everyone was suppose to be on break, besides usually normal people knock before entering someone's office." Lucas argues.  "Well, I'm not a normal person, Lu. I thought you knew that. Miah knows that." I sit on the leather coach, cautious. "Yes, I know that only because you are a very close friend to my husband. I needed to know all about you because I used to hate you. Who would have thought that we'd become friends, as well." Miah confesses. "It's been ten years since you've gotten married. I'm the one who got you guys together. Do you still not trust me?" I pout. "Now, I do, but back then you were too quiet. 'It's always the quiet ones,' people say. We're cool now, though." She smiles at me. Miah Harp was in Lucas's life before I was but just as friends. I would notice her glares but I would brush it off. It was when I realized that Lucas had a crush on Miah, as well, that I decided to give him a little push. They got together after a lot of convincing on my part. Then two and a half years later, they married and had four children. Nine year old, Nayeli, six year old, Lucas Jr, and two year old, Jaylynn and Jamie, the twins. They love me like I was their own aunt. I adore them. Turns out that three months ago when Lucas ditched me at the club, he had gone home because Nayeli had gotten a fever. Apparently, he forgot to notify me at the time since he was worried about his baby girl. "Why did you come over, Ana? Is everything alright?" Miah wonders. "Oh, yeah, I came because this dufus failed to mention that my new boss is the man who left me alone and confused almost four months ago." I point to Lucas who looks pretty guilty standing next to his wife. "Lucas, explain yourself." His two year younger wife states. "Well, she did say that she wouldn't consider talking to him unless she did see him again. I knew she needed a job so I called in a favor. It was a win-win situation." "Lucas, for a man who is thirty-two years old and a doctor, you sure are stupid. If she didn't want to talk to the man, why would you intervene?" "Miah, he has a right to know. It's his baby as much as it is hers." Miah turns to me, "Oh my, Darling, you're pregnant. I knew you were hiding something under that oversized loose shirt of yours. Let me see." She squeals and walks around Lucas's desk. She then proceeded to lift my shirt, revealing my bump. "Damn, girl, you look like you're already six months. How did I not notice? Probably because you had your purse coving your stomach." "You're being ridiculous, I'm only four months. You're making me sound like a whale." I slap her hands away. "Honey, it looks like your about to give birth to a whale." She tries to whisper. I gasp, "Rude!" "Yes, I noticed that as well. Ana, have you been over eating or eating a lot of fast food?" Lucas has a worried look on his face. "No, I've only been eating the foods you wrote down for me." His worried look doesn't change, "Lucas, you're scaring me. I thought it was normal to be this big, though, my morning sickness is getting worse." "Ana, I'm sure you and your baby are okay, but I want to run some tests just to make sure." I nod in agreement. "Lucas Honey, I'm going to go back to work. Hope everything is okay, Ana. Don't worry, my husband is a professional. Oh, I was wondering if you could babysit for us tomorrow night around 6:15 p.m. "Thank you and yes, I'll babysit." Miah leans in to hug me. "Nope, no hug." We laugh as she leaves, after giving Lucas a kiss. Lucas turns to me, "Follow me." He leads me to a different room that looks like something from a horror movie. "Lay on the bed for me and lift your shirt." I comply. Lucas turns on some machineshop and a screen comes on the TV. "This is going to be cold." I hiss as he rubs it on my stomach. Damň right, it is cold. After spreading the gel, Lucas puts the ultrasound wand on my stomach. "If you'd look at the screen, you'll see your..." Lucas freezes as he states at the screen, bewildered. "Lucas, what's wrong?" "Um, I figured out why you're so big?" "Why?" "Congratulations, Analiza, you are having triplets." That's the last thing I hear before I pass out.
