Standpipe HillThe first group settled on the side of Standpipe Hill, which overlooked Greenwood, and the men and women chatted as they unfolded tables and chairs into a rectangular arrangement. All involved hoped for a memorable evening in this beautiful and scenic setting, which provided an unobstructed and impressive view of both Tulsa proper and Greenwood. A truck pulled up on the other side of the peak and several of the men left the picnic area to assist off-loading the vehicle. Two men removed the shovels and picks and identified a perfect spot for the hole. Others unloaded and placed the remaining materials in proximity to the digging equipment.
