Chapter 6Early in the summer of 1924, on a Friday afternoon, Bowman Quinn was seen by several students walking into his office. He was spotted just after dawn the following Monday by a janitor who was going through the offices in Jesse Hall to empty the bins. Quinn sat rigidly slumped in his chair in front of his desk, head at an odd angle, eyes open and fixed in a horrible stare. The caretaker spoke to him and then ran screaming through the empty corridors. There was some delay in removing the body from the office, and a few early students wandered the corridors as the strangely hunchbacked and blanket-clad figure was carried on a gurney down the steps to the waiting ambulance.
