Chapter six.
Subtitle: the horror
*Freda*
Although my scream was very loud and would’ve pierced through the night on any normal day today wasn’t. The fact that a gathering is already going on inside the school hall and with the loud speakers and everyone’s noise it’s safe to say that no one heard me. Atleast no one that’s inside the hall heard me.
Tyrone’s head snapped back, he starred at me, his red bloodshot eyes looking menacing, cold and deadly.
My legs shook, so much so that I felt as if I would pee any second, I fact I could feel the moisture in between my legs, meaning I might have wet my pants even if it was just a little bit.
Fear swept through me, my eyes hung open in the most alarming way, as if I’ve seen a ghost, which in fact I would agree I have seen one.
The sight in front of me was horrendous, let me explain.
Tyrone stood just in front of a huge tree at the backyard of the school compound where students usually go to relax, except now it’s dark and except for the full moonlight shining it’s light down on the trees that cast shadows over the surrounding the place would have looked alarming. He held someone up by the neck, pinned against the huge tree with his legs dangling in the air.
The first scene I witnessed when I arrived was him holding a person against the tree while leaning forward, as if he was engaged in some kind of sick smooch with the person in the middle of the night. It wasn’t untill he took his head away from the persons face and turned to give me a look as my noisy arrival had interrupted whatever was going on that I was able to notice his bloody lips and his bloodshot eyes. I mean bloody in the sense that red fresh blood was trickling down from his lips unto his jaw and chin. Although the place was dark and I could not be so sure of what I was seeing I was very sure what I saw was blood and the scenario in front of me seemed very real, it was not a hallucination or a nightmare, it looked and felt real.
“ ah f**k!” Tyrone exclaimed after my unwelcome scream, revealing his sharp elongated canines. My head spun, I felt as if I had been possessed. At that moment he didn’t look like the handsome and captivatingly friendly hunk that just moved to our small town. He seemed like the devil himself, everything about him and his aura at the moment felt dangerous and unreal. He growled softly and let go of the man he was holding against the tree, the person fell to the ground with a loud thud. My attention moved from Tyrone’s face to the person who lay on the ground, lifeless. I observed him closely in the dark, he had really familiar features and although the place seemed very dark I could still see his face as the moon shone on him slightly. His neck looked bloody and some of his blood soiled the floor as he was bleeding profusely. I almost choked as I tried to swallow my saliva. My eyes went back to Tyrone then back to the man on the floor.
“Cle… Clement!” I exclaimed in utter dismay. The person laying almost lifeless on the floor and bleeding profusely was non other than Clement. One of the few friends I have in this school.
“ Freda… I need you to calm down.” Tyrone said as he began to move towards me.
“No!”
I cried as I moved back in fear, tears moving down my cheeks.
“ stay away from me you sick monster!”
I snapped. Fear engulfing me. “ what have you done to Clement? Did you murder him?”
I cried, unable to gather myself. My emotions were all over the place and I felt so sick and dizzy, I wanted to puke. Tyrone kept moving towards me, I kept moving back. He stopped, stared at me then back at the lifeless Clement who is still laying on the floor. He hissed. “ do not say a word to anyone about this.” He said in a cold and chilling voice, almost as he was handing out a threat, a threat I dare not cross. In that moment his voice didn’t sound so friendly and welcoming, it sounded as if I was talking to my worst nightmare. I turned around bolted, fast and quick. Tears roll down my cheeks as I ran, my vision was blurred due to how much heat i was feeling coupled with the dizziness, nausea and tears. I felt confused, as if I would die any moment. I almost stumbled and fell a couple of times but I managed to find my way back into the hall, the music became loud and I could see people dancing, I didn’t pay much attention to anyone, I dashed forward, finding my way in the crowd and back to where I left Cindy. It took a while and people kept shooting me weird stares, I guess it was because of how disheveled and teary I looked. I found Cindy, she looked drunk.
“ what’s wrong Freda? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” She muttered with concern but then laughed afterwards, she looked drunk and her didn’t seem to be paying me much attention. “ let’s go home Cindy, I don’t feel well. I want to go home.” I cried, using the back of my hand to clean my tears. “What?”
She yelled through the loud music.
“ I said, let’s go home!”
I snapped, tapping my feet against the hard floor. I felt the kind of heat I haven’t felt in a while envelope my body. “ no not now Freda. I can’t drive.” She laughed and shook her head sheepishly. I was getting impatient, I don’t want to spend even one moment still In school with everything I’ve just witnessed.
“ I called my sister already, she will come pick us up In two hours.” Cindy added. I shook my head and quickly reached into Cindy’s handbag, I grabbed her car keys and dashed out of the hall as quickly as I came, leaving her behind as she yelled and called for me to stop.
I didn’t look back and I kept roughing my way out of the hall amidst everyone untill I bumped into someone who had a glass of juice in her hands, the juice spilled all over my dress. I hissed angrily. “ Freda? Are you okay? Why weren’t you looking?” A familiar voice asked. I looked up to see Abbey, Jeremy’s beautiful girlfriend staring at me with a worried look on her face. “ I’m okay Abbey.” I said coldly and dashed out of the hall in a haste. I ran in the dark in fear, fear that what I’ve seen and witnessed will come back, hunting me. I ran to the packing lot and quickly located Cindy’s car in the dark. I unlocked it and got in, ignoring the loud calls of someone following me. I got into the car and shut the door closed then I inserted the car keys and turned on the ignition, preparing to drive out of the school premises, my head was blank and my mind seemed very cloudy, I don’t know how to drive properly, I’ve failed my first driving test and since then I didn’t bother to retake it. I stepped on the wheels and without knowing it, i jammed into something, I shrieked and stepped on the brake at once, it almost sent me flying towards the windscreen of the car before jerking me back. I quickly got out of the car and hurried forward.
“Oh God! Oh my goodness!” I cried, more tears rolling down my cheeks as soon as I saw what I had just done. Laying lifeless on the ground right in front of my car was Abbey, my cousin brothers sweet and lovable girlfriend. I crumbled to the floor besides her in horror.
