Chapter four : The moonridge pack

Deep within the forests of Bled, hidden from human eyes, was the home of the Moonridge Pack.
The forest around their territory was ancient and peaceful. Tall trees surrounded their home, and only pack members knew the hidden paths that led there. To humans it was just another forest filled with old legends.
They believed werewolves existed only in stories.They were wrong.For generations, the Moonridge Pack had quietly protected the forests of Bled from dangers humans never knew existed.
They lived by a simple code never reveal themselves to humans never harm the innocent, and always put the pack first.
Every wolf was raised to follow these rules. They learned that being a wolf wasn't just about strength it was about loyalty, responsibility and protecting their own.
At the center of their territory stood the great hall, the heart of the pack. Inside stood Alpha Alaric Thorn, a respected leader who protected his people with wisdom rather than fear. Beside him was his mate, Luna Elara Thorn, whose calm nature kept the pack united.
That night, the entire pack gathered inside the great hall The wolves stood quietly, waiting for their Alpha to speak. They could feel that something was different.
Alaric did not call meetings without reason. When everyone had arrived, he stepped forward. The voices in the room faded. There is something I must tell you,” Alaric said.
Every wolf turned their attention toward him “The girl we promised to protect has returned to Bled.” Silence filled the hall
Some members looked at one another in surprise. Others remembered the promise that had been made twenty years ago.
“Nyra?” one wolf asked quietly Alaric nodded. Yes. She has returned.”
A feeling of uneasiness moved through the room. The pack knew about Nyra. They knew there had been an agreement to protect her. But many of them did not know the reason behind it. Does she know about us?” another member asked No,” Alaric answered. His voice was firm.
“She knows nothing about the pack.”The room remained silent. And she must not know yet.”The wolves accepted their Alpha’s command, even though questions remained in their minds.They did not know the full story.They only knew that a promise had been made And the Moonridge Pack never broke a promise.
Among the members of the pack stood Kaelan Thorn. He listened quietly, his thoughts returning to the girl he had met earlier. Nyra.
She had come back to Bled searching for answers, not knowing that there were people who had been watching over her for years.
Alaric looked toward his son.”Kaelan.”Kaelan stepped forward.”Yes, Alpha?”You know what needs to be done. Kaelan nodded.I do.”Keep her safe.”I will.”
Alaric held his son’s gaze for a moment before giving a small nod.The meeting ended, but the feeling that something was coming remained.
Back at the cafeteria, Nyra looked outside the window and noticed the evening sky beginning to darken.She had spent most of the day trying to understand Bled. The town felt unfamiliar, yet there were
moments when it felt strangely familiar, as if some part of her already knew this place.She gathered her things and looked at Evren.I should probably go home.”
Evren glanced at the time before standing.I’ll walk you.”Nyra smiled slightly.
“You don’t have to.”I know,” he said. “But I want to.”She accepted his offer.
The two of them left the cafeteria and walked through the quiet streets of Bled.
For a while, Nyra allowed herself to forget about the questions surrounding her past. She forgot about the strange dreams that had followed her since childhood and the feeling that there were things about herself she did not understand.
When they reached her home, Evren stopped near the door.This is me leaving you.”Nyra smiled.Thank you for today.”
“You’re welcome.”There was a short silence between them.I’ll see you again,” Evren said.Nyra nodded.I hope so.”
Evren smiled before turning and walking away.Nyra watched until he disappeared before entering her home.The moment the door closed behind her quiet returned.
She touched the necklace around her neck.
She had worn it for as long as she could remember, but tonight it felt different.She could not explain why.
