Chapter 9: Resolve and freedom

The moonlight illuminated the battle scene.  Pithon's experience and unusual strength make him one of the strongest opponents I battle with.

If Pithon is this strong, then how strong is the General?

Why I'm in such a hurry? Is it better to run in this situation?

I even used my vampire form. Vampire form can only be used in a limited time period after that it will give me great pain. There's also a time interval before I can use it again.

Said Hanayuki and pointed her finger to Pithon.

Every punch Hanayuki gives put Pithon in huge astray. Hanayuki is much faster than Pithon at this time.

Hanayuki was fighting her best to defeat and protect me.

At that moment, memories flow in my mind.

Remembering back in the village before it got burned down. There was a girl named Hikari who is always on my side. We have the same work, same home, and same dream.

"I wanted to travel the world."

Said Hikari.

"Because of my dream. I need to be strong and fight those evil guys."

I replied.

Her words inspire me a lot.

That time Hikari run and saved the two girls and defeated the monster by herself. Hikari was recognized in the village and she was very happy.

I wanted to protect Hikari and be strong. but how can I protect if I can't even stand up like a man and protect those in need?

That thought spin in my mind.

No one really thinks of me back then I've felt it. It's not jealousy. It's just I feel ashamed of myself for doing nothing.

That night I can't sleep. I was thinking of changing myself.

I get up in my bed and leave Hikari. I go to the forest and started training myself to be strong. I started my training in the following month. I get stronger and learn some basic magic.

One night.

While I'm in the forest.

The village started to burn down.

The red robe terrorist attacks the village and burned people to ashes.

I immediately go back and check on Hikari.

"Hikari!"

Hikari said and get pulled my hands away.

I stopped and said:

"Stop doing this protecting me. I'm the one who will protect you. Am a man I will go and protect you Hikari."

Hikari blushed a little and give me her smile. I pulled my sword and accompany Hikari to the exit of the village.

there the members of a terrorist are standing.

"Ho? A survivor?"

"There holding hand how cute. Maybe they are in love with each other."

They said.

"Stop don't come near us!"

I said and make a stance.

I will never gonna go back to my old mistake. I will put my life in the line this time and save Hikari.

The big man killed Hikari and using a sword of flames.

I failed to protect Hikari.

The man didn't kill me and gave me that sword that has the blood of my beloved friend.

I cursed him and promise to hunt him down.

At this moment Hanayuki is fighting with her life on the line.

That's right I need to man up and protect Hanayuki.

Hanayuki is just my friend that I met not long ago, but still, she tried her best to defend me.

Pithon started to keep up and turn the table.

Now she was struggling and started to be hurt by Pithons sword skills.

"Hanayuki! Hanayuki! You can endure this right? Sword skill: Destruction blade!"

That sword skill collects a dense amount of magic and smashing it toward the target.

Hanayuki can't dodge it.

Vampire form-!!

I force myself and denied the time interval. It's risky and I might lose my life with this. After this regeneration and a huge boost. I will feel intense pain.

Just for a short time let me use all my power.

My attack collided with Pithon sword skill and after that. I collect all my magic and straighten to force myself for an opening. My sword slides down to the handle of his sword and with my flame.

Pithon was weak in his battle with Hanayuki and lose lots of magic. He can't keep up now.

I'm about to feel the pain even by my vampire form.

And I strike to the final blow.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh--!!"

Making Pithon fly to the city gate making huge damage on the sturdy wall of Celest.

Before I fall. Hanayuki catch me and cry a lot.

"Thank goodness your alive Ren."

"Did I defeat Pithon... Yeah, you did it and I'm proud of you. For mot killing him. Your flame does devour the target body but that caster can cancel it right. I saw it you cancel the flames and just leave Pithon in his knockout state."

I said.

The pain felt is so intense. Some of my bones got broken.

But at that moment Hanayuki's smile makes me smile.

I passed out.

The battle ended there.

After the battle against Pithon. Ren lost all his energy and white out. There Hanayuki helped him and tell Ren that he did best in his battle.

Moving to the Dragoon tower.

Scarlet Rose one of the highest nobles in the kingdom of Arsland and her subordinate started to finish their plan.

Ren is not a part of Scarlet’s plan, because Scarlet can kill Pithon with her own hands.

Using magic that can project the happening on Pithon's battle. Scarlet smiled and said:

"Good thing they have taken care of Pithon. Now let proceed to the next phase... Sally gathers our soldiers and let's start building our new era in this land."

Sally is delightedly replied:

"Yes, Scarlet-sama."

Sally gathered the soldier under them and use her magic to enhance their abilities. to take out the Red robe terrorist soldier in the Celest.

With Yukihime's Ice magic. Everything turns smoothly. They have taken care of the weak soldiers and some of the soldiers outside started to retreat.

The news is heard by Lucas. The traitor who betrays the dragoon for the legacy of the Red robe terrorist group.

Lucas was angered and disappointed. Using his phone he reported the happening to the general.

"A traitor in the Dragoon?"

"But they are the ones protecting this city."

"Pithon was defeated?"

Scarlet speech continues.

"As you can see my soldier defeated most of the red robe terrorists and their leader was also defeated. The dragoon traitor that leads everything to this was named Lucas. "It's done I give a lot of good information regarding the happening here. I also make you nobler to describe your effort. The story will be published in the newspaper tomorrow morning as a headline."

Said Sally.

Scarlet patted Sally's head.
