Blaire pushed open the door to the manager's office, her heart pounding with a mix of anticipation and nervousness. She had been avoiding this moment, dreading the awkwardness of seeing Aron and Raven again after so long, but she knew she had to face them. She had to reconnect, to let them know that she was ready to move on from their past and embrace a new chapter in their lives. "Excuse me," she said, her voice a bit shaky, as she approached the manager's desk. "I'm looking for Aron and Raven. I'm Blaire." The manager, a woman with a warm smile and kind eyes, looked up from her paperwork, her expression curious. "Blaire," she repeated, her voice gentle. "I know those two. They're in the back, prepping for the afternoon rush. What can I do for you?" Blaire hesitated, her heart pounding in her chest. She had been dreading this moment, but now that she was here, she felt a surge of determination. She had to talk to them, to let them know that she was ready to reconnect. "I'd like to see them," she said, her voice a bit firmer than before. "I'd like to talk to them." The manager smiled, her eyes twinkling with understanding. "Of course," she said. "I'll let them know you're here. They'll be happy to see you." Blaire nodded, her heart filled with a mix of hope and trepidation. She took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves, and then she turned and walked towards the back of the cafe, her eyes searching for Aron and Raven. As she walked, she couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The cafe was bustling with activity, the air filled with the sounds of chatter and laughter, the aroma of coffee and pastries filling her senses. She felt a pang of loneliness, a sense of being out of place, a longing for the familiar warmth of her friends. She stopped at the doorway to the back kitchen, her heart pounding in her chest. She took a deep breath, trying to collect her thoughts, and then she pushed open the door, her eyes searching for Aron and Raven. The kitchen was a flurry of activity, the air thick with the scent of coffee and pastries. Aron was meticulously decorating a batch of cupcakes, his movements precise and practiced. Raven was busy filling a display case with freshly baked pastries, his face beaming with pride. They both looked up as Blaire entered the room, their expressions a mixture of surprise and confusion. Aron's eyes widened in recognition, his face flushed with a mixture of embarrassment and delight. Raven, ever the more outgoing brother, grinned and waved. "Blaire," Aron said, his voice a bit hesitant, as he approached her. "What are you doing here?" Blaire, her heart pounding in her chest, smiled, her eyes filled with a mix of hope and trepidation. "I wanted to see you both," she said, her voice a bit shaky. "I wanted to talk to you."
