CHAPTER THREE

Blaire slammed the door of her car shut, the sound echoing in the quiet parking lot. Her phone buzzed with a notification, but she ignored it, her eyes fixed on the empty road ahead. The auditorium was just a few blocks away, but it felt like a world away. She had walked out on Aron, leaving him standing alone, his face etched with hurt and disappointment. The words he'd spoken echoed in her mind: "You've lost sight of what really matters." She had never been called out like that before. Her carefully constructed world of fame and fortune had been shattered by his words. He was right. She had become so obsessed with her image, with her brand, with the validation of her followers, that she had forgotten what she truly loved. She had forgotten the joy of music, the passion that had once burned so brightly within her. She reached for her phone, her fingers trembling slightly. She had to post something. Her followers were expecting an update. They were expecting her to be happy, to be successful, to be the perfect influencer. But she wasn't happy. She wasn't successful. She was lost. She scrolled through her feed, her eyes scanning the carefully curated images of her friends, her peers, all living their best lives, all seemingly happy and fulfilled. But she knew it was all a facade. They were all just pretending. Just like her. She typed a message, deleting it again and again. What could she say? "I'm lost and confused?" "I've made a terrible mistake?" "I've lost the one person who truly saw me?" She sighed, feeling a wave of despair wash over her. She had everything she had ever wanted: fame, fortune, a life of luxury. But it all felt empty, meaningless. She had lost her way, and she didn't know how to find it again. She started the car, the engine roaring to life, a symbol of her own inner turmoil. She had to get out of here. She had to get away from the pressure, from the expectations, from the constant need to perform. She drove away, her phone buzzing in the passenger seat, a reminder of the world she had created, a world that no longer felt like her own.
