The familiar scent of lavender and freshly baked cookies greeted Blaire as Raven ushered her through the door of their family home. The warm glow of the living room lamp cast long shadows across the plush carpet, creating a cozy atmosphere that felt worlds away from the harsh fluorescent lights of the bar.
"Go on, get comfy," Raven said, guiding her towards the plush sofa. He gently placed a throw blanket over her, his touch gentle and reassuring.
Blaire sank into the cushions, her body slumping with exhaustion. She closed her eyes, the soft warmth of the blanket enveloping her like a hug. "Raven, you're the best," she mumbled, her voice thick with sleepiness.
"I know, I know," Raven chuckled, his voice laced with amusement. He knew Blaire was drunk, but he didn't mind. He had been through this with her before, and he knew that she just needed to talk it out.
"Raven, do you think I'm a bad person?" Blaire asked, her voice a barely audible whisper.
Raven sat down beside her, his eyes meeting hers. "Blaire, you're not a bad person," he said, his voice firm but kind. "You're just going through a rough patch. We all do sometimes."
"But I hurt Aron," Blaire said, her voice tinged with remorse. "I was so mean to him. I don't know why I did it."
"You were hurting, Blaire," Raven said gently. "You were trying to protect yourself, to keep yourself from getting hurt again."
"But I hurt him anyway," Blaire insisted, her eyes welling up with tears. "I made him feel bad. I made him feel like he wasn't good enough."
Raven reached out and gently wiped a tear from her cheek. "Aron knows you love him, Blaire," he said, his voice soothing. "He knows you didn't mean to hurt him."
"But I did," Blaire whispered, her voice barely audible. "I'm a terrible person."
"Blaire, stop it," Raven said, his voice firm. "You're not a terrible person. You're just a person who's trying to figure things out. And that's okay."
He pulled her close, his arm wrapped around her, his presence a silent comfort in the darkness. He knew that Blaire was struggling, but he also knew that she was strong. She had been through a lot in her life, and she had always come out stronger on the other side.
"I'm going to be okay, Raven," Blaire mumbled, her voice thick with sleepiness. "I just need a little time."
Raven nodded, his heart filled with a mixture of concern and hope. He knew that Blaire was going to be okay. She just needed a little time to heal, a little time to find her way back to herself.
