Chapter 3: Help Me (3) *** “Just a while longer… I’m still figuring things out myself…” Evan said as he looked down at the ground. He’d dated girls before but at some point he realized he really wasn’t attracted to any of them, at least not physically. He realized he might be gay only about two years ago and he’s still yet to tell anyone besides his sister who was just as sharp as she was shy… “You’ve been figuring it out for two years already… You know mom and dad won’t mind, right? They’re not the type to-” Evelyn was interrupted mid sentence. “I know… I just don’t feel like sharing it in such a way… So let’s just focus on the plan, alright?” Evan said as he grabbed the wig off of his sister’s hands and clumsily put it on. “Not like that…” Evelyn said as she took it back and handed her sibling a wig cap. “Put this on first, then we’ll take care of the make-up…” She continued, her brother agreed and did as he was instructed… “Hey bro… You’ve been down lately haven’t you?” Evelyn said as she prepared her brother’s make-up, she was doing her best to make it the exact same as the one she had on at the moment. “Maybe a bit… How’d you notice?” Evan asked as he kept his eyes closed while his sister was putting on eye shadow on him. “You usually hang out on weekends but lately you’ve been staying home… Did something happen?” Evelyn asked, she was a homebody herself and didn’t really leave the house unless it was really necessary. She’d noticed her brother was staying back as well for the past few weeks which concerned her but she didn’t want to bother him. “I broke up with Natasha…” Evan said as he opened his eyes, he saw his sister’s surprised look at his words. “There’s no way you’d be so down just because of the break up…” Evelyn said as she waited for the other to tell her more. “She… she told me I wasn’t the person she thought I was.” Evan said as he let out an awkward laugh. “…hah… whatever that’s supposed to mean anyways…” “Hm… maybe it’s because you constantly date girls you’re not attracted to instead of the guys you do like…” Evelyn said as she picked out a shade of lipstick and put it on the man. “…….” Evan didn’t say anything and simply kept quiet at that moment. “She probably noticed you didn’t really like her… but rather only dated her as a cover up…” Evelyn said as her hand stopped moving when she noticed her brother’s eyes looking at her. “I did love her… just not romantically…” Evan said as he slumped his shoulders. “It’s not like… I chose… not to be attracted to her…” “I know…” Evelyn was the only person that knew her brother’s sexuality, she felt sorry for him in a way, he was too confused to share it with anyone else and he wasn’t ready to confess to the person he likes either. Compared to her who didn’t have any actual crush at the moment, she didn’t have the same issues the other was going through with her sexuality either. “Do you think… no never mind…” Evan looked down at his hands, he noticed he was fidgeting, it was something he rarely ever did. He wasn’t the type to panic or get anxious either. But only when it came to this sensitive topic was he a complete mess. “I think… you just have to be yourself just as you’ve always been about everything else… and things will go by just fine.” Evelyn said with a smile on her face, she didn’t have the right words in mind, she usually never did and this time was no different. Because she couldn’t completely understand the other’s struggle, there was little she could do rather than comfort him like this. “Yeah…” Evan wasn’t one to be easily convinced of anything, it was one of his bad qualities. He was hard headed at best and when it came to things he believed in, he’d rarely change his mind. While Evelyn was more on the open minded side of things, she didn’t judge others for what they liked and she didn’t wish to be judged for her own likings. While her brother was much harsher on himself than he was on others, he couldn’t help but think he was out of place. “Done!” Evelyn said happily as she placed the wig on the man’s head and adjusted it. Now they both looked like a pair of identical sisters. “Can I look?” Evan asked and his sister handed him a mirror, he looked at his reflection and just as he thought, he looked just like his sister. “It’s… kind of scary just how much make-up can change a person…” He remarked, he’d always been impressed with his sibling’s skills but this somewhat took him aback. “Hehe, glad you like it… Now I should hurry up and remove my own make up…” Evelyn said as she took a make-up removal wipe and began taking it off. Then there was a knock at the door. “Honey! Are you busy?” Their mother was knocking at the door. The two twins looked at one another in a slight panic. “s**t… I haven’t removed my make-up yet, could you pretend to be me?” Evelyn handed her brother her make up and went to hide in the closet as quickly as she could. “Come in!” Evan said with a voice a bit higher pitched than his normal speaking voice. He was nineteen and already gone through puberty, yet his voice wasn’t as low as he expected it to be, so he was still well capable of pretending to be his sibling…
