I leaned back against my pile of pillows, stared across the room at my TV screen, ignored the dialogue issuing from my discarded headphones, and tried not to wince at Jian’s incredulous tone. “You haven’t been out on a date since you moved in?”
“It’s only been a month!”
“Yeah, and you’re not married to this guy, Koa. If you’re boyfriends, fine, but you should be doing some dating s**t. Don’t be all settled down already.”
It would’ve been nice to have a snappy comeback ready. Unfortunately, the guy knew me too well. “I kind of invited myself to move in, you know.”
“Yeah, not with him though. And they didn’t hire you to be a night nurse. You’re available in case of emergency only, that’s what you said. So how come you’re not going anywhere?”
