I leaned back in my office chair, surveyed my very own office, and felt smug. On the other side of the desk, Julio grinned at me. “You’re so smug,” he said.
“Yes I am.”
He laughed. “I’ve never had an office. Guess it feels good?”
“Feels great! Being a free agent all that time worked for me. Guess I wasn’t ready for commitment.” We shared a look acknowledging that, obviously, things were different now. “But yeah, I like this. I’ll be off two Saturdays a month, so with any luck I can still meet up with you guys in Malibu once in a while.”

“He got the TV show.”
