Walking the red carpet for our first Emmy Awards broadcast was an absolute trip. I wore a basic tux, well-tailored, distinguished by a tropical-flower-print bow tie, my turtle bracelet, and my blue leather boots. Loren wore brand-new custom everything: high-heeled boots, dark-blue leather pants, a slinky hot-pink shirt, and a dark-blue lace tuxedo-style jacket. Oh, and a necklace that Lani gave him last Christmas, with polymer-clay mosaic beads shaped like hibiscus flowers.
