Damon streched his hands and groaned, he had been let out of his cell by the dragon princess herself and she was taken him around town apparently. His blood had been tested and it had been discovered that he had been telling the truth. After the news was relayed to him, the war council also declared that he had to be released from his cell but he would be kept under close observation.
Damon was therefore instructed to go on training expeditions with a special team pit together that was to aid the course of battle between the dragons and humans in case anything the wyverns couldn't handle happened.
"Now that I think about it what's going on here?"
Damon asked as he saw the humanoid dragon soldiers equipping pieces of armour for the wyverns, it was like they were impatiently prepping for battle.
"What do you mean what's going on?"
"I mean we're in the empire, why are the wyverns being prepped for battle here and not at the base on the frontlines?."
Lena sighed, it was like she was disappointed with the question he had asked her but to Damon, it was a pretty logical question asked in a logical sense.
"The wyverns are being prepped here because this is their battle base. I had hoped you would've noticed and asked sooner but don't you notice this place is too small to be the empire?."
"I really didn't notice, I haven't had a full scope of the area you know."
"Yeah right, you've been locked up all this while."
"Yeah I have but I am glad now that I have been released. I can get to know everyone here better so we can all be in an healthy relationship come the future."
Lena shot Damon what seemed to be a worried look, the expression vanished as fast as it came and she didn't hesitate to halt in her tracks and turn towards him before glaring at him with an ice cold expression, one that Damon felt he knew all too well.
"Just because you have the bloodline of an elder dragon coursing through your veins doesn't justify what humanity has done to us and neither does it make you a dragon. Everyone here is still on edge due to your presence, honestly why do you even have to hold the bloodline?. Nobody wants you here and neither do I!"
Lena's lash out made Damon take a step back, he turned his head to look around him. All the humanoid dragons and wyverns had a nasty disgusting expression on their face, one they didn't try to mask. They were revealing the hate and contempt they had for humans and directing it all towards him with their gazes, he really hoped they didn't result to physical methods to express they way they felt.
"Look I get it okay. It's not like I wanted to be here either, it's not like I knew this was going to happen. But I am here now and I am a dragon, I hope we can put out differences aside and work together."
Damon and Lena stared at eachother for a while before Lena averted her gaze and walked away, wiggling her tail in the process. Damon hurried after her so as not to get left behind by Lena and stayed silent as they walked.
After walking for a few minutes a strange scent wafted past Damon's nostrils and he sniffed it in, it was unlike anything he smelt before and it smelt really good. He couldn't help but get drawn to where it was coming from and as he registered the smell he heard his tummy growl loudly in demand.
Damon Instantly wrapped his hands around his tummy in embarrassment as Lena turned towards him with a look that said 'really'. He in turn gave a clumsy smile and Lena sighed as she walked on.
"Follow me, let's get you something to eat."
"No you really don't have to, it would be rude of me to accept."
"Don't be silly, I also have to eat afterall."
"Well if you insist it would be rude of me to refuse."
They both walked towards a small building where the scent had wafted from, as they got closer the aroma of whatever was being cooked intensified and even Lena couldn't help but sniff it in. She slightly pushed at the wooden door that sperated them from whatever was brewing within and the jingle of the bell that went off when the door was opened was a signal that potential customers had arrived. Upon crossing the threshold and entering the building their ears were filled with the loud noises of jubilation, arguments and murmurs. The place was lively as people cheered and laughed drinking from wooden mugs and eating from wooden bowls. The atmosphere was inviting and the air was warm and cozy.
Damon marveled at the sight of men fighting, men drinking and to his surprise, humanoid dragons dressed in maid uniforms moving around with trays and orders. It was truly a sight to behold. Lena led the way towards what looked like the bar and sat on a stool, Damon sat beside her and couldn't help but turn around to take in more of everything that was happening, he had never really had a physical experience like this in the world the game as tarvens didn't exist and bars were well a little too rough for his personality.
"Hi there. Welcome to me tarven, what would you like to have?"
Damon's attention was drawn by the merry voice that had interrupted his sight seeing, he turned to see an absurdly tall but equally fat female dragon standing behind the bar with a creppy but as well merry smile on her face, she was wearing an hair net to cover her hair and an absurdly long but dirty apron that had what looked like grease smeared across it.
Lena turned to look at Damon and gestured towards the barkeep. Damon grasped the meaning of what she was saying and instantly waved his hands awkwardly in protest.
"Oh no, I really can't do that as I haven't been here before. I'll have what you are having."
"You can't have what I am having because I like my meals cold and potentially iced. We don't have the same blood running through our veins."
"You're right. Can I have a second to think about it?"
"Go ahead."
Damon noded in appreciation as he began to ponder on what to order for, he had never eating dragon food and he didn't know what it tasted like. He also didn't want something that fell under the junk category as he also wanted to increase his mental fortitude while savoring whatever was served to him, with that in mind he could only ask for something hot and healthy while also holding that delicious taste he craved when he had walked in.
"I have decided, I'll have something freshly prepared that's just as healthy as it's delicious."
Damon said after making his conclusion, he smiled as he sighed. He hoped it was good enough and could satisfy his hunger.
The barkeep laughed and held her protruded belly, she looked at Damon knowingly before saying with a giggle.
"You truly are a brave young one aren't you, seems you would like to take on the challenge every one has been taking on but failing."
"What challenge are you talking about?"
"The meal you have just ordered happens to be on our special menu, once you taste it you wouldn't want to stop eating it and to keep on eating it you have to in turn hunt for the ingredients used in preparing the meal and bring it to me to get more."
The barkeep said it so mysteriously that Damon couldn't help but feel enticed to the offer, hunting down ingredients used to make the meal in return for another round of the same meal sounded nice. Besides it could help him gain experience points to level up as he hadn't even attempted to raise his level.
Damon's steaming hot order was placed before him and Lena's icy cold offer was placed before her as well. Before Damon was a bowl filled with cream coloured liquid that had a few diced ingredients in it, it looked like what he would call the usual Isekai soup but it had a different look and aroma and to crown it all there was an absurdly large chunk of meat swimming in the bowl. He took in the smell and smiled as he gently stabbed the meat with the wooden fork he held. A little piece of the meat was easily cut off in the process and Damon could tell it was soft, he ate it and felt it melt against his tongue with the taste of the well cooked and tasty ingredients flooding his mouth.
"This is so good."
Damon commented in delight, he had never had anything like this before and he had to say it rivaled the occasional healthy meal he had eaten while he was outside the game. After swallowing the meat, he didn't hesitate to devour it all and gulp down the soup that had come with it.
When he was done he dropped the bowl with a thud and exhaled in delight and satisfaction but soon enough his satisfaction was quenched and he was instantly craving for more, it was just as the barkeep had said.
"I told you it was irresistible, now you have to hunt down the special ingredient and bring it here tomorrow."
Damon noded frantically and wiped his mouth with the back of his sleeves, he giggled and asked the barkeep what the special ingredient he would be hunting was.
'It has to be a really rare breed of edible meat I haven't heard of before, perhaps something called a tasty bunny'
Damon thought to himself. The barkeep chuckled as she leaned in and whispered into his ear.
"You'll be hunting hobo-goblins."
"Hobo-goblins!"
Damon shrieked startled, he had just savoured a bowl filled with meat from the hideous hobo-goblins?....How disgusting.
Damon fell on his knees and clutched his tummy as he instantly coughed up a large amount of what he had eaten, the warm liquid he had coughed up gave off a nasty smell and an unpleasant green colour.
He groaned as the once merry noises died down and all eyes fell on him.
