"What are you doing?"
Damon jumped in fright as soon as he caught a glimpse of a person's shadow and the sudden question thrown at him, his heart was hammering against his rib cage like crazy and he was panting.
"What are you doing?"
The person asked again, the question sounded normal but the persons voice sounded forced like whoever it was wanted Damon frightened. He gulped as he squinted his eyes and tried to take a better look, the wind blew softly and swept the helm of the persons out into the light and Damon finally relaxed after seeing the helm of the dress.
"I know it's you princess."
Damon said with a frown, he was quite thrown off by Lena's attempt to frighten him but he relaxed as it was an indication that she was probably warming up to him.
"Huh...what do you mean princess?, I am an assassin sent to put an end to your pathetic existence."
Damon smiled, her forced tone was being softened and that meant he had surprised her by calling her princess. He turned to look at her and just then he saw the silver glint of a crooked dagger, he couldn't help but gulp at the sight of the crooked dagger. He was quite sure it was Lena but what if it really wasn't her and was truly an assassin sent to end his life?...he couldn't take any chances.
"If you really are an assassin then I suppose you should make your move while I'm still unarmed."
Damon said. He straightened his posture and glared at the figure of the supposed assassin. The person took a step and Damon instantly charged grabbing the person's hand and pulling them into the light, the person yelped sheepishly and tripped but Damon was quick to place his hand on their back to keep them from falling.
The wind blew again carrying the person's hair in the wind. They stayed in that position for a couple of minutes before Damon's supposed assassin cleared her throat and freed herself from Damon's hold and adjusting her dress and hair.
"How did you find out I was the one, it could have really been an assassin you know?"
Lena said with an awkward smile, her face was flushed red with embarrassment a d Damon didn't know the reason for which she was suddenly embarrassed neither did he bother to ask.
"Well your voice gave you off and your dress too, it made it really evident so to say."
"Really, and I thought I had played the part well."
"If you want to conceal your identity you should try wearing something other than what you're used to wearing."
"What do you mean wear something other than what I am used to wearing?"
"Well for starters you were the same sort of dress almost everyday, it instantly tells me that you're non other than the princess. If you want to change that you should probably consider wearing a pair of pants, I heard they are free to walk about in."
Damon said as he gave Lena tips on how to conceal her identity better with two of his fingers holding his chin.
"Panties???"
"No not panties, pants like the other word for trousers or whatever you all call it here."
"I see. I am not really familiar with the concept of trousers or the pants you happen to be referring to but we do have shorts."
"Well then I guess it's settled, Shorts it is."
"Even though I'm not used to wearing it I'll take your words to heart and use this new technique when next I sneak up on someone."
The two kept on talking for a while until Fabien walked out of the tavern, he was holding his weapons in hand and he had a straight face on. He turned to look at Damon and Lena before nodding his and walking off into the dead of the night.
"Where is Fabien off to at this time of the day?"
"He's going out to hone his skills and increase his level, he is really obsessed with that sort of thing and he has been keeping up the routine of going out at night ever since the team was created."
"Really, I never knew. I just thought you all were content with the progress you made today."
"No you're wrong, none of us are content with our progress but we can't keep up with Fabien once it comes to training at night and besides there are nocturnal beasts roaming the forest and plains at this time. It would be quite dangerous to go without enough resources and a plan."
"Well then I think I understand, I also want to get stronger and hone my skills so I think I want to go down the path Fabien has chosen."
"I suppose I can't stop you so you should catch up with him and tell him what it is that his driving you."
"Thanks, I'll make sure I get stronger so your efforts won't be in vain."
"Good luck with that....human."
Damon walked off and soon enough he increased his speed and ran after Fabien.
She still considered him human, he had thought he was finally getting her to trust him but he was wrong. The ever burning flame that stayed dormant within him, the need for someone to trust and believe in him and not try to change him... where was it?
Finally after running for minutes nonstop Damon came across a field where a slightly battle was going on, Fabien was swinging his battle axe and slashing against dark shadows that looked like wolves. The creatures were fast and agile and from the strikes they delivered, Damon could tell that they were strong too.
It looked like Fabien was having an hard time dealing with the group of wolves and he wanted to go ahead and help him even if it was a little but he soon stopped dead in his tracks as soon as Fabien's weapon was engulfed in red unrealistic flames, he swinged the axe cutting through the air and slicing the wolves burning them in the process. The grasses were lit up in the flames too and they burned hotter by the second.
'So this is the power of a dragon'
Damon thought to himself as he watched Fabien swing his axe repeatedly as he sliced through the wolves repeatedly. Damon had no other choice, if he wanted to get stronger then he had to ask Fabien to teach him. He was going to make Fabien his mentor.
