CHAPTER ELEVEN

1227 Words
Damon blinked as he stared at Leonard who blinked as he stared back with the same wierd energy Damon was giving off. They had been at it for at least fifteen whole minutes both having their own reasons. Damon was staring because he could see Leonard's scales changing from it's normal green colour to a much more muddy brown colour. Leonard on the other hand was staring because he was wondering what an human like Damon was staring at him like that for. "I am very sorry, I didn't mean to stare so much." Damon apologized as he averted his gaze, he hadn't really noticed anything more that what he had noticed before and there was no need to keep on staring at Leonard in an awkward manner. "It's nothing really, but what are you staring at me so intently for?" "It's just I noticed your scales change colour between green and some sort of muddy brown and I could help but wonder." "Ah the colour situation. It's nothing much of a deal, you see I am an elemental dragon with an affinity for poison and earth. The reason my scales change colour is unknown to me myself but I have a vague idea." "And what might that be?." Damon asked physically and mentally inclined by Leonard's words, it was like Damon was a fish and Leonard had lured him to the surface of the water with nothing but a worm as bait. Leonard smiled as he saw Damon inch in closer, he cleared his throat before placing his hand on his chest and saying. "Obviously because I am special, why else would my scales change colour rhythmically if not because I posses talent unlike any other." Damon Instantly let go of the hook that had been luring him to the surface, it had seemed like he was going to learn something new from the dragon before him but it turned out Leonard only wanted to praise himself, it made Damon loose hope that he could learn anything from Leonard. "What's with that look on your face?. Don't you think I am special?" "You must be really special for your scales to undergo an undiscovered phenomenon like that, I would like to hear more but I have to go to bed now. I would like to get a lot of energy if I want to keep up with you guys tomorrow." Damon replied as he turned his body and lied in bed, pulling the cover over his body. The pillow the bed covers were dusty which was probably an indication that they really didn't bother cleaning the room till it was sparkling, since it was but a basic room they must have paid less attention to it. After snuggling into the pillow Damon closed his eyes and tried to sleep. Everywhere was silent and the only thing that kept Damon awake was the sound of the wind, the chirping of strange insects and... nothing else. He turned in bed as he pinned his gaze on the celling, the bed was almost as hard as rock and so was the pillow but Damon couldn't complain as it was better than spending hours in the cold filthy cell from before, he could almost smell the stench as he thought about it. "Damn it." Damon whispered, he balled up his fists as his nails dug into the flesh of his palm, he couldn't really afford to stay awake till dawn neither could he afford to return back to the outside world, it was quite boring there. Doing nothing but playing old games and eating to pass away time, he was getting tired of the new routine. "I guess I have no other choice." Damon mused as he commanded the system to come online using the telepathic feature. The system beeped to life and only Damon could see the faint glow the holographic panel emitted before him. As he went through the information displayed on the interface, Leonard stared at him curiously. To Leonard, Damon was glaring intently at the celling and he moved his eyes like he was reading, his lips also moved like he was saying something but it was all just inaudible. Damon on the other hand wasn't aware that he was being gazed upon by his guardian for the night, he had concluded that he had no other choice and that he had to log out of the game if he didn't want to die of boredom, he also had to increase his mental fortitude and after what he had eaten at the tavern earlier...he needed something else to kill the taste. {Would you like to log out of Dragon Dynamics?} {Yes/No} 'Yes.' Damon replied without moving his lips, he felt his head sway and his vision blur before he finally opened his eyes to gaze upon his dimly lit room, the curtains were closed as usual and there were no lights to give the place the glow it deserved. "Gosh, I feel so tired." Damon mused as he groaned and streched as he stood up from where he sat and walked over to the window, for the first time in years Damon opened the curtains and inhaled as the golden rays of the glowing sun flooded into the room and lit it up. After making way for the light, Damon took off his clothes and walked into his bathroom. With a click he turned on the led lights a d inhaled the scent of soap and bubble bath formulas, the dark bathroom smelt all too familiar like someone had made use of it just recently but then it hit him that he had taken a bath before logging into the game earlier. He was really stressed out. Damon walked into the bathroom and prepared his bath before soaking into in the warm inviting liquid that filled the tub, he let out a relaxed sigh as he closed his eyes and let the warm water swallow him before burying his head and entire body into it. A few minutes after, he came back to the surface of the water and gasped for air as he swept his palm over his face trying to get a clear view. "This is relaxing." "System?." {Hi there player.} "I have a name you know, you should call me Damon.} {Is that an order or a request?} "What difference does it make if it's either of the two?" {Your orders can be carried out if only if they are significantly or in some cases insignificantly related to your main quest.} "What about my requests?" {If your requests are significantly related to the main quest and affect the quest positively they shall be carried out.} {If your requests are insignificantly related to the quest and do not affect it positively they shall not be carried out.} Damon noded his head knowingly, he wasn't sure why requests and orders were important at the time or how they would come to help him in the nearest future but he noded his head anyway. "Call me Damon from now on. It's an order that if carried out, it will help keep me at ease and maintain a stable mind." {Your order has proved to be insignificantly related to the quest in a positive way. Your order shall be carried out.} {How may I help you, Damon?.}
