CHAPTER TWELVE

1177 Words
Damon opened his eyes with a start as he felt a warm touch on his shoulder, his gaze darted to the side and he only let his guard down when he saw Leonard wearing a forced smile on his face. Damon sighed and closed his eyes for a few seconds before opening his eyes, he raised the upper half of his body and moved his legs to sit on the bed before looking around him. He was at the inn but it was still dark, he was only able to log back in after 24 hours of logging out and he was immediately transported back to the very point in time when he logged out. Everything seemed to be in place but there was something that didn't sit well with him. Why the f**k was Leonard creepily smiling down at him?. It was one of the most unhinged things he had seen of late. Was it that the rules that stopped time had changed or was he just too fast that the moment Damon closed his eyes he was already by his side and smiling down at him for unknown reasons?. "What was that for?." Damon asked as he closed his eyes and looked Leonard in the face. Leonard looked normal, sitting on his chair which was about three to five meters away from the bed Damon had been lying on. His eyes were closed and he was smiling innocently like he hadn't moved an inch and attempted to do something Damon wasn't aware of. "What do you mean what was that for?, I have been assigned to watch over you for the night. Not that I want to but duty calls." To think he had waited 24 hours just to log in to this, Damon was beginning to wish time flowed normally without being affected whenever he logged in or logged out of the game. The complexity of it was quite unpleasant now that he thought about it. "Do you have an idea of who is to keep watch over me tomorrow?." Leonard's smile faded away and he look d serious all over again, the expression that dominated his face at that moment was almost intimidating. Damon made sure he tried his best to hide the effect Leonard had on him and maintain a straight face too, it was the only way to keep the conversation levelheaded. "I'll tell you this human. I am not obliged to tell you anything and I won't tell you anything, it's upsetting enough that I have to babysit you." "Well you can at least tell me what to expect by dawn, I am not knowledgeably proud in my training skills so to say." "Like I said I am not obliged to tell you anything but I'll seize the liberty of asking you this. If you aren't proud of your skills as a dragon slayer then how, how did you singlehandedly slay elder Thorne?." Damon gulped as Leonard settled his gaze on him, he dug his nails into the fabric of the clothe he wore and gritted his teeth. He couldn't really tell them he had lied and wasn't the only one that slayed the dragon they had all expected to be the final boss, he couldn't imagine what they would do to him if they knew that he lied. "I trained regularly before I finally got strong enough to kill the dragon. But after that, I strangely lost my skills, abilities and levels l. I don't know how it happened but it somewhat did." "You mean after inheriting the elders bloodline?." "Yes." Leonard looked at Damon suspiciously, it felt like he was waiting for Damon to make the slightest slip up before murdering him in the worst way imaginable. Afterward Leonard sighed calmly, it looked like he was relieved that the worst had been averted and now the rest was nothing but a walk in the park. "Well that takes a lot of my shoulders." "What do you mean?." "Don't tell me you didn't notice, we were all waiting for you to let your guard down so we could get rid of you and extract the bloodline. It's a relief that you aren't much of a threat." 'Eeeeekkkk!!' Damon went crazy within his thoughts, they were all waiting for him to let his guard down so they could bury their blades and claws in him. How crazy was it that they all thought he was stronger than any of them present, perhaps he shouldn't have told Leonard that he wasn't s strong as they all thought it was. Now he was beginning to wish he had never complained about the rules of time. "So in truth, I would have died a few minutes ago?." "Yes you would have, I confirmed you had finally slept and let your guard down and so I had proceeded to attack. I still have my doubts though. For example how you knew I was going to attack and suddenly woke up at the right time." Damon raised his head and looked at the celling fir a few seconds, there was no way he could explain how he had come to exist within the game and he wasn't planning to. He had experienced humiliation and insults from those around him due to his likes and dislikes, he resented them but there was nothing he could do now. As long as he could see the sunlight he was sure there was still hope. "I'm not sure I know how I did it myself, it was somewhat like a feeling of foreboding." The two talked between one another for hours, Damon couldn't wait for the sun within the game to set but Leonard on the other hand was enjoying his Q&A sessions. Damon also learnt a few things from their little session and talks, for example he learned the name the black material was called. Apparently it was named after the dragon that found it thousands of millennials ago, Alastors. Alastors was a versatile extremely guarded material the dragons had found from what Leonard called a confidential location, an object made of pure Alastors was rumored to hold mind shattering properties that was called 'Magick'. "Magick?." "Yes magick, it's just a rumor though so you shouldn't take it to heart." Damon assumed Leonard had pronounced it wrongly and had attempted to cross-check but Leonard had maintained the pronunciation. The human race within the game definitely pronounced it as 'magic' which was widely known even in the outside world. Damon held his chin as he thought about it but soon discarded it as a mistake that must have occured millennials ago. Just when their conversation came to an end they heard a loud bang and the door came flying open. Damon felt shivers run down his spine as a grinning female dragon whose name he knew as Mirana walked in with a death glare that was obviously directed at him. "Aah f**k, this is gonna be a long day." Damon lamented as he strikes his palm against his forehead.
