It’s not like Joseph and I were a couple, despite what Ruby thought.
He was only keeping me protected from other bloodthirsty vampires. All we truly had was a one-night stand.
But still, I couldn’t help but feel some sort of way about the attention he was giving this new teacher.
I sat in my usual seat in the classroom and waited for Ruby to finally pull her attention away from Emily long enough to notice that I was no longer standing by her side.
She eventually excused herself from the conversation and went to join me at our seats.
“Have a good class,” Emily said, placing her hand on Joseph’s arm.
I curled my lip up in aggravation, but quickly lowered it before anyone noticed it.
