Chapter Nine

A month goes by... Attica and Jasper are still deep in love with each other. They have their wedding planned for 5 months out. They have their new routine, and everything is going great. Jasper has officially moved all his things into Attica's place. They are happy and having fun with their lives. The company is running better than ever. They are running it together and working together to achieve their goals and the company goals. They are even planning on buying a home for them to have for their family.

Their alarm goes off at 5 am for their usual Monday morning gym time. They get up and get ready. While at the gym, Attica is on the treadmill and feels lightheaded. She just doesn't think anything of it. She continues to keep herself going. She thinks that it might be that she hasn't ate today yet but also her body is used to this. It just seems like her body is telling her something, but she just ignores it. She just keeps going like its nothing. She ends up blacking out and falling off the treadmill. She doesn't remember anything else until a few minutes later she opens her eyes to see Jasper and a paramedic leaning over her as she is laying on the floor. The paramedic is asking her questions like her name, the date, etc. She answers them normal. They check her blood pressure which is fine.

She looks at Jasper with concern. Jasper looks like he's seen a ghost. He was really worried about her. He is holding her hand and has tears in his eyes. "You scared me love. Please don't ever do this again to me. I don't want to lose you. Why didn't you just tell me you were not feeling well. We didn't half to come today. We could have stayed home, and I would have taken care of you." Attica looks at Jasper and says, "I was feeling fine just a little lightheaded. But I thought it was because I haven't eaten today yet. I just didn't think anything of it. I'm sorry babe. I will not overlook it again. I love you." The paramedic puts Attica on a stretcher, and they wheel her into the ambulance. She looks at the paramedic and says, "I am fine. I do not need to go to the hospital. It was just a little faint." The paramedic looked at her in shock. "Listen miss, but we need to take you to the hospital. You bumped your head when you fell. We need to run some tests to make sure that we are not overlooking anything. I cannot just let you go not making sure you are fully diagnosed and fine. The doctor will half to make that choice. I am just doing my job." Attica nods. Jasper jumps in the back with them not leaving her side.

"Jasper, you need to go to work. I will be fine and be in when they are done. I will let you know everything. I promise." Jasper looks at Attica for a moment and then nods okay. He gives her a kiss and then exits the ambulance. He watches as they leave off to the hospital. They arrive 20 minutes later at the hospital. They get Attica in a room and hook an IV up to her. The EMT tells them that she fainted at the gym and fell and bumped her head. That she became concise 30 minutes later and she was alert and knew everything, so he didn't see a concussion but brought her in for further evaluation. The nurse comes in and take Attica's blood pressure which is normal. Temperature is normal. Pulse is normal. She asks Attica questions about her health. Attica answers everything and then the nurse walks out. The doctor comes in and tell her that he's going to get some blood tests run and a CT scan done on her head to make sure that there is not concussion. He then asks some personal questions about her menstrual cycle and chances of pregnancy. Attica then thinks for a moment. She then realizes that she is a month late, but she has been so busy that she has just overlooked it because she didn't think about it. The doctor then asks for a urine sample as well.

A few hours later, all the tests come back, and the doctor comes in. "You CT scan came back normal. You do not have a concussion. But we are going to do an ultrasound due to your urine and blood tests show you are pregnant, and we want to make sure that everything is fine. Your blood levels show everything is normal." Attica stares at the doctor in shock. "I'm....I'm....I'm....preg....nant?" Wow, I'm just happy. Is that the reason that I fainted?" The doctor nodded. "Some women do have spells when they are in the early stages, but we do want to make sure everything is fine before we release you. Congrats to you on your new journey." He then walks out of the room. An hour later, the ultrasound technician comes in with a wheelchair smiling. "Hello Ms. Baker, I am here to take you to get an ultrasound." Attica nods. She gets up from the bed and moves into the wheelchair. They then go down the hall to the ultrasound room.

Attica sits up on the bed and puts her shirt up to show her belly. She is still in shock. The technician puts the jelly on her tummy and then tells Attica to lay back. She puts the wand on her tummy and there is a sound that Attica has never heard before. It scares her. "Is that sound normal?" The lady laughs. "Yes Ms. Baker, that is your baby's heartbeat." Attica stares at her in shock. "It's heartbeat? It already has one at this stage?" The lady laughs again. "I'm taking it this is your first child. Congrats. Yes, they have a heartbeat at this young. It looks like you are a month along. Baby is healthy. It is growing normally. Everything seems fine. Would you like some pictures to share with the father?" "Yes, of course. Jasper is going to be ecstatic. We are getting married in 5 months and we wanted to start on our family quickly. My father has cancer, so we wanted to make sure he got to meet his grandchildren before he passes. "I'm so sorry to hear that about your father. I printed you out some pictures. Congratulations to you and your fiancé on your new bundle of joy." She wipes the jelly off Attica's stomach and then gets her back into the wheelchair. They go down the hallway back to her room. Before the technician leaves, she hands the pictures to Attica.

The doctor comes in with release papers. He lets her know that he put a prescription in for prenatal vitamins. He made her a follow-up appointment with an OBGYN and sends her on her way. Attica calls Jasper and tells him that she is fine and that she will be into work in about an hour. Jasper tells her to take the day off and go home and rest. Attica thinks about it and agrees. She then runs to the pharmacy to pick up her prescription. She then goes home and thinks about how she is going to break the good news to Jasper. She wants to surprise him. So, she takes the pictures and put them in a little gift bag. She leaves it on the table for him with a note saying, "Jasper, just a little gift to show you that I love you. I hope you enjoy it. Love, Attica" She then decides to clean up the house and make him dinner when he gets home. She just can't wait to see his face when he opens it up. She just regrets him missing the change to hear the baby's first heartbeat. She already knows that there will be many more times and so she knows he will be there for everything. She now thinks of how to tell her parents and his parents the news. She hopes that they will both except it even though her and Jasper is not married yet.

Attica then thinks about her "dream" from earlier. I guess this baby is Dolthan. She thinks about if they are going to half to move the wedding up, but she doesn't worry much about it. She hears her phone going off, so it comes to the current time. She looks at her phone. It's her mom. Attica answers it, "Hi mom. Is everything okay? You usually don't call me in the middle of the day." She hears her mother's voice upset, "Attica, it's your father. You need to come over. He's not doing too well with the chemo." Attica tells her mom that she is on the way and hangs up. Hopefully everything is okay. She is not going to worry about telling them about the baby yet. She goes out the door and heads to her parent's house in a hurry.
