Chapter 2: My Suspicion

1132 Words
As I quickly start driving to the Wright Co. building, I’m trying to get a hold of Christian. He hasn't been answering my calls lately unless I get a hold of his secretary to call me back. We gradually became distant after all the lost pups and it honestly doesn’t help that his parents hated me. Any way or form they can put me down and remind me of my family background or lack of family just to prove I wasn’t worthy of their son. In the beginning it didn’t matter to Christian and I, we truly loved each other. Well it was more love at first sight when I first saw him, to Christian it was a different story. He didn’t even know I existed until the end of Senior year. Although he was extremely handsome with his tall stature, perfect face. He has beautiful olive skin, with dark black hair always combed back and cool blue eyes that look like ice. His cool demeanor and attitude would frighten all the students except his small group of friends and whoever girlfriend he was with at the time. He went through several girlfriends because Victoria would bully them until they left him. Towards the end of the school year rumors were going around that his parents finally pressured him into dating Victoria. She was thrilled to finally get what she wanted and made sure everyone knew he was her boyfriend. From what he told me later, he never liked her but only did it to get his parents off his back until graduation where he was going to dump her. It was the luck of the moon goddess that put me with my crush and freed Christian from her. At the time, Christian was away for Alpha training for a month right before prom and me receiving my wolf. I was supposed to go with Cassie to an early college entry conference. We had the credits to actually graduate early and leave for college. The night before us leaving my wolf felt that I needed to stay. Because of that decision I was on campus when Christian came back. My wolf could smell his earthy aroma of coffee, and something spicy like cinnamon through the hallway. I followed the scent until Christian came crashing into me. Parently he had been chasing after me as I was searching for him. This was a dream come true for us but a nightmare for his parents. Both Christian and Victoria’s parents have been close friends and business partners since before they were born. I guess they hoped their kids would be mated together, helping merge their partnership and companies into one strong power house. But all those hopes disappeared when Christian saw I was his mate. He immediately broke up with Victoria and claimed me as his mate and luna.Since then it has never been easy for me. The Wright parents judge my every move, critiquing me in the most harsh way. Christian tried his best giving me as much support by hiring all sorts of tutors and assistants to help me fit in. He would be buying the fanciest clothes and jewels. Before every event and banquet he would quiz me on the names of guests and brands I was wearing because to save me from the claws of his mother Lily, Victoria and their harpy friends. I tried my best in front of others to be the perfect Luna and Mistress of the Wright home. I do my duties for the pack with great care and passion. The only time I was allowed to be myself was with Christian in the privacy of our home but after time I slowly stopped doing that. After losing our pups, Christian started becoming more quiet than usually, and distancing himself from me. I worried about our relationship but my wolf would never doubt her mate and kept taking his side in my concerns. Lyra kept telling me that Shadow is sad for the lost pups so Christian must be feeling the same grief and they were worried for us. I hoped that this pup would heal whatever wounds we had, and that we will be finally happy. The calls are going straight to voicemail, maybe his phone is off. He usually turns it off during meetings but it was close to lunch so I know he wouldn’t be busy at the moment. I call his secretary, Daniel, and he immediately picks up. “Luna Wright, how can I help you?” “Where is Christian? I need to speak to him, it's very important.” Daniel hesitates before saying “Of course Luna. One moment please,” then he puts me on hold. Luck must be on my side because I’m getting to the building faster than I thought I would. I’m just down the street to the building before the secretary Daniel returns. “I’m sorry Luna but Alpha is busy at the moment and will speak with you later tonight.” I’m starting to become irritated by Christian disregarding my call. In the past, if I called just to say hi he would drop everything for me. “When is an Alpha too busy for his Luna?” I growled over the phone. I quickly parked in my designated parking spot and rushed out of my car. Poor Daniel is quiet, not quite sure how to respond. I quickly storm into the building and march to the elevator. “Go tell Christian right now that I need him to make time to see me, it’s important.” I begin to scan my key card that sends the elevator directly to the top floor. “Of course Luna. At what time will you arrive?” Daniel nervously asks as I hear him swiftly moving. “NOW!” I say as I hang up and the elevator doors open. I see the staff swiftly moving around, looking nervous at the sight of me. I spot Daniel practically running towards me as I turn and move to the end of the hallway to Christian’s office. “Please Luna, Alpha is in a meeting. Let me lead you to your office and I will inform him of your arrival.” Daniel tries to guide to the right, where the Luna office is located. I would only use that office to plan pack events or host other visiting Lunas as the alphas have their quarterly meetings. Daniel is trying to stop me from entering Christian’s office. “Move Daniel,” I use my Luna voice, forcing him to bow and step aside. “I’m sorry,” he whispers as I sense a hint of guilt in his tone. I slam open the door to find Christian and Victoria talking.
