As we walked down the steps, I was slightly confused after hearing Frankie tell his parents that it was okay to lock up if needed. I paused on the last step. Frankie turned and looked at me, asking, “Is everything okay, Nikki?”
I tilted my head to the side, looking up at him, and asked, “You do know it’s only about 5:30 p.m., and you told your parents not to wait up?”
Frankie smiled and tugged on my hand to encourage me to start walking with him again. Then he said, “Yeah, I figured we could walk to the gathering place on Blood Moon Hillside and watch the sunset.”
I smiled, thinking that he really couldn’t be more perfect, and said, “That sounds like a great idea, but I should have at least left a note for my mom in case she gets back before I do.”
