Vera stands at the bathroom doorway, eyes locked with mine as she waits. I clench the phone behind me.
“Cat got your tongue?” she asks, stepping in further. “I just asked you a question. Who were you talking to?”
My heart beats faster, but I try not to show it. Try not to let her see through me. I don’t know how much she heard, and I strongly hope she didn’t hear enough to know everything.
“How did you get in?” I ask.
She scoffs, raising a bunch of keys. “I’ve been standing behind your door without a reply. I had to grab the extra key to get in.”
“Why?" I scrowl, hating how my voice almost tremble. "What do you want?”
Is she spying on me? I wouldn’t be surprised if she is.
She smiles, sliding the keys into her pocket, then walks into the room. I turn off the shower and follow her, p
