---** Gabriel's POV:
"What do you mean we've been deceived?" I asked as I follow Michael while he walked towards the edge of the building.
"The prophecy was nothing but a facade. I'm afraid that what's behind it is a sinister scheme." He answered before clicking his tongue in frustration. He then looked down at the busy streets where I then joined him.
Humans don't even know what they're heading to as they had made themselves busy to seek comfort. They have been blinded by the comfort they seek in life with which only money can bring and they have forgotten to look for their purpose. Most of them are driven by money and power so badly that they are willing to do unimaginable things to attain a lot of it. They have forgotten that in the end, the power and money they had would not save them.
Their deaths are inevitable and only how they lived their lives here on earth can attest if they truly belong to heaven.
How feeble-minded are they yet, their souls had always been of importance.
Strong winds blew against down, "For hundreds of years we've waited for the boy only to find that he's not who were looking for. We've been deceived once again... what fools we were." Michael continued.
"But the boy bears the brand of the devil... I saw it myself." I retorted, still unable to believe.
"He's nothing but a decoy..." he replied.
Somehow, I knew there wouldn't be any need of force in line with teaching the boy goodness as he is a bright, sweet child that's only been confused. So far, that little boy already knows the difference between what is wrong and right and every time he had to make a decision, he would choose the right answer. He need not be guided by either me nor Raziel.
However, all the signs point to that little boy, even the energy emanating from him. But all this time has been wasted.
"Then who is it we're looking for?" I asked.
"I don't know. We must look again... a boy who has the same brand and was born on the same day."
"I have to tell Raziel..." I said before I turn my back from the edge and head my way towards the door.
"No. Don't tell her..." He objected softly.
I stopped in my tracks and turned and look at him. His wings then appeared and opened, getting ready to fly.
"I don't trust her anymore. She might tell the demon of this. We can't let him find out about the boy. For now, let her distract him." He stated before lifting off and flying away swiftly.
I know Raziel has been swept off her feet by Jacob but that doesn't mean that she's on his side. I admit that at first, I was a bit skeptical of her plan on changing him but I can see bit by bit how he's changed.
Jacob and I still argue at times but that's entirely because of jealousy...
Jealousy. What a wretched feeling this is.
I hate to see them together. I hate how her face lightens up whenever she sees him but at the same time, I admire that face...
She's the most beautiful whenever he's around and I hated it... but Raziel is happy and I had to be contented with that. Besides, these feelings hold no value in the end as we know that angels can't be with angles. Emotions were not gifted to us so we would have a clear vision of the path we must take, the path of God.
But the longer I thought about it, I had been feeling pity of Raziel ever since she was cast to Earth and even before I was punished to be human. I saved her, out of worry she will fail the mission. Isn't pity an emotion? Or the better word, I sympathize with what she had lived through here in the mundane world.
"You know she'll suffer if she continues to love him."
It was out of nowhere. I heard a hissing voice that spoke. It's not my own but the voice was so attractive, alluring that it felt like I was listening to music.
Though somehow, it sounded familiar. A voice I've never heard for a long time now.
But what the voice whispered were words of temptation.
"He does things to her, he manipulates her, he enslaves her by promising love but in the end, she would just get hurt. He will leave her with nothing... but you can change that..."
"Who are you?" I asked and look around the rooftop but not a single soul is up here.
"I am you, but I'm the rational one."
The voice sounded like it was in my head and the more I listen, the more convincing it gets.
"Gabriel... you love her with all your heart and you didn't even know it."
"You have to make her yours or she will perish like all the others before her."
"He's a soulless demon and you know that there's no hope in changing him... no demons had ever changed."
"He's just deceiving all of you... acting like a changed man when he's really not..."
"You've always known this... demons are cunning... and they play with human emotions too well"
"She's being played..."
"And you're the only one who can save her."
"Make her yours..."
