I sit at the computer desk in Victoria's room and stare at the blank wall ahead. This year her room is a little more spacious than the one we stayed in last year. Her roommate hasn't arrived yet, which is weird because it's now approaching six o'clock in the evening. Victoria insists I sleep on her roomie's bed for the time being, but I opt to share her twin bed.
"Are you going to just stare at nothing all night?" She flips through a magazine once more before tossing it on the floor. "Are you?"
I spin the chair around getting a good view of her. "I should be at my apartment decorating and taking a nice bath, sitting on my couch watching Penthouse while eating cakepops."
"No one is stopping you."
I know no one is physically stopping me—no someone is and it's the male Avery. What in the world were the apartment people thinking? If I have to give up my apartment there will be hell to pay.
"Avery," I mutter.
"Not really," I look at her and she smiles. "I've been doing some research." Grabbing her phone she scoots to the end of the bed. Clicking on her i********: app, her fingers move at a rapid pace. Social media is her thing. I on the other hand prefer not to have any social media—I haven't posted anything on my i********: or Twitter, I have the apps but its the root of all evil and drama.
"Research on i********:?" I give her a questionable look.
"Yes," She rolls her eyes, now scrolling on someone's page. "Look." Handing me the phone I see Avery, the blonde, and some other friends all smiling with Red Solo cups in their hands.
"He parties." Duh.
"So he's telling the truth about who he is, which means you can go back to the apartment if you want to."
"That doesn't make sense." I hand her back her phone. "Him partying a lot is more of a reason for me not to be in the apartment alone with him." I wonder what goes on inside of her head.
"So, you're going to let some guy, kick you out your own apartment? Is that what we do now?" She stands up pacing back and forth. Telling me how I should go back there and give him a piece of my mind and so on.
"First, you want me here and now you are trying to get rid of me, who is she?" I know Victoria like the back of my hand. She's in her s****l prime right now and I totally understand. Her mother doesn't approve of her sexuality, her father does though. So over the summer, she had been on locked down by her mother. She couldn't go pretty much anywhere if it wasn't to my house and even then her mom made sure she would call every hour on the hour. Victoria is used to it, but I think she needs to have a serious talk with her mother about it after all we're in our second year of college.
"Why do you think it's someone?"
"Because you haven't got laid all summer and we're back in college."
"Fine, you're right. It's some girl I messaged a few times over the summer. She is senior here and we are going to meet up at her place." She stands, sliding on her Toms.
"Wait, you're leaving now?"
"In a few. I forgot to cancel plans with her after the whole thing went down with you. She sent me some pictures and my goodness her body looks amazing naked."
I wave my hands, telling her to shut up. "Say no more." I screw up my face.
"No, don't be like that. I listened to you when you were gushing over Henry. It was so repulsive hearing about that." she fake vomits.
"I didn't go into details."
"You didn't have to your body language did most of the talking." she sticks her tongue out at me. "You can stay here if you want. I'll only be a few hours." she winks.
"Nasty. I'm going to take a trip to a convenience store for some therapeutic shopping." I pick up my car keys off the table. "Hopefully, when I'm done you should be finished whatever it is your doing."
"Convenience store shopping without me I'm hurt. Bring me back some cheap wine too."
"I'm sure your friend will help you ease the pain." sticking out my tongue, I exit the room. I know Victoria had to get her items, so to speak ready and I never liked to watch her do it. She makes a scene, going into details about what each one is for and how to use them. I'm not here for that.
On the drive to the convenience store, my apartment complex comes into view. I debate if I want to make a detour or just go to my final destination. I keep driving. Avery will get dealt with in the morning for sure. I never need anything when I come to a convenience store, but always end up spending more than need be.
I walk down the wine aisle contemplating. I can get two bottles and drink my worries away, sounds like a solid plan to me. I pick two based on how cute the labeling is, it's always been that way for me.
"Can I see ID please?" The cashier asks.
"Here you go," I hand it over. She types in the date of birth and hands me back the card. Telling me my total.
I swipe my card. "Thank you." she puts the receipt in the bag.
I put my bag on the passenger seat and head back to campus. Once again my apartment complex comes into view and I decide to stop. Parking my car out front I grab the bag of wine and make my way inside. If I want him to leave without putting up a fight I need to butter him up. Nearing the apartment door, I can hear music playing. Unlocking the door, I'm greeted by the sight of a small gathering.
He has got to be kidding me. Red Solo cups cover my glass coffee table, as a group of guys and girls are sitting around talking.
"There she goes." Avery draws everyone's attention to me. The blonde from earlier today is sitting on his lap. She glares at me before kissing his neck.
"So this is the other Avery. Nice to meet you I'm Chris." He stands smiling and his dimples are everything. Weakness number seven are guys with dimples. I mean come on, how can you not?
"Nice to meet you too," I reply.
"I see you came with gifts." He looks down at the bag in my hand. "Umm," I give him the bag. "Avery can I talk to you...in private."
He taps the blonde thigh, gesturing for her to get up. She hesitates but nonetheless gets off of him. I make my way to the room, everything is clean and organized this time. I look at my bed with pity. Who knows how many girls he took to bed. He enters the room closing the door.
"Didn't expect to see you here until the morning. Don't worry I put all your luggage in the closet before anyone came over." He crosses his arms over his chest leaning against the door.
"Thank you." I break eye contact with him. I don't like the way he looks at me like he is looking straight into my soul. It's nerve-wracking. "So, do you always throw parties here?"
He chuckles and I look back at him. "Did you come back to ask about me throwing parties or did you need to get something?"
"I actually came here thinking you and I can talk about the apartment arrangements."
"I'm not leaving. I told you that already. Now, if that's why you came you should get going. I have company." He opens the room door.
"You're an asshole Avery!" I seethe, storming out the room. I see India handing one of the wine bottles I bought to a girl rocking a vintage AC/DC shirt. I snatch the bottle before she could grab it. I see the other bottle still in the bag, taking it too.
"What the f**k is your problem?" The blonde snaps.
"Indy, leave her," Avery speaks up and I would laugh at this whole situation if I wasn't so pissed off.
"Why? She comes in here f*****g up our vibe twice in one day." She looks at him.
"Seriously, why don't you just f**k off." I snap, walking out of the apartment.
