Veins of Hunger

The service corridors narrowed as they climbed, forcing them closer together. The air was thick with dust and the faint ozone tang of dying spirit energy. Ryker’s body burned not just from wounds, but from something deeper. The purge had crippled the Beast Code’s expansion, yet what remained inside him felt… starved. Every nerve ending was alight, hypersensitive. The brush of Lira’s shoulder against his arm sent electric jolts straight to his groin. They found a small maintenance alcove, half-collapsed and shielded by fallen debris. It would have to do. Exhaustion and adrenaline warred inside Ryker as he sealed the entrance with a twisted metal panel. “We rest here,” he muttered. “Ten minutes. Then we move again.” Lira nodded, sliding down the wall until she sat on the cold floor. Her coat was torn, blood streaking her thigh from the code-tendril gash. She winced as she tried to inspect it. Ryker knelt in front of her, his hands still faintly trembling with residual mutations gently parting the ripped fabric. The sight of her bare skin hit him harder than any echo. Smooth, sweat-slicked, marked by bruises and shallow cuts. His breath caught. The Code stirred, whispering in a velvet tone that felt far too much like his own desire: Claim her. Mark her. Make her part of us. “Ryker…” Lira’s voice was low, husky. Her eyes met his, dark with exhaustion and something else. Hunger. Relief. Fear. “Your eyes are glowing again.” “I know.” His voice had that faint layered echo, but it was softer now. Intimate. He pressed his palm against her wounded thigh. The Code tendrils beneath his skin responded instinctively, knitting her flesh with faint blue light. The contact lingered. His fingers traced higher, along the inside of her leg, feeling the heat radiating from her core. Lira shivered, but she didn’t pull away. Instead, she reached up, cupping the back of his neck and pulling him closer. Their lips crashed together in a desperate kiss. Months of tension, lies, and shared terror poured out. Her tongue slid against his, tasting of salt and blood and survival. Ryker groaned into her mouth, the sound vibrating through both of them. The Code amplified everything. He could smell her arousal sharpening in the stale air, feel the rapid flutter of her pulse beneath his fingers. His hands moved with urgent need, shoving her coat open and palming her breasts through her thin undershirt. Her n*****s hardened instantly against his touch. Lira arched into him with a soft moan, her legs parting to pull him between them. “f**k, Ryker,” she breathed against his lips. “I thought we were going to die down here. I need… I need to feel you. All of you. Before whatever’s left of that thing tries to take you again.” He didn’t need more invitation. Ryker stripped her undershirt off in one rough motion, exposing her to the faint emergency lighting. Her body was athletic, scarred, beautiful. He lowered his head, mouth closing over one n****e, sucking hard while his hand slid between her thighs. She was already soaked. His fingers parted her slick folds, circling her swollen c**t with deliberate pressure. Lira gasped, hips bucking against his hand. The Code pulsed in rhythm with her moans. Fractures along his jaw and collarbone glowed softly as he worked two thick fingers inside her, curling them against that sensitive spot. She was tight, hot, clenching around him. Her hands fumbled with his belt, freeing his c**k—hard, throbbing, the veins along its length faintly traced with faint cyan lines from the infection. Lira wrapped her hand around him, stroking with firm, needy strokes. “Inside me,” she demanded, voice breaking. “Now.” Ryker positioned himself and thrust in deep in one powerful stroke. They both cried out. The sensation was overwhelming her walls gripping him like velvet fire, the Code singing with dark pleasure at the union. He f****d her hard against the alcove floor, each thrust punctuated by the wet slap of skin and her desperate gasps. Lira’s nails raked down his back, drawing blood that only made the Code stronger, hungrier. He flipped her onto her hands and knees, gripping her hips and driving into her from behind. The angle let him go deeper, pounding against that perfect spot with every stroke. One hand reached around to rub her c**t in tight circles while the other tangled in her hair, pulling her head back so he could bite the junction of her neck and shoulder hard enough to mark, not break skin. “Yes f**k, yes,” Lira moaned, pushing back against him. Her body trembled as her o****m hit, walls pulsing and squeezing around his c**k. The sensation dragged Ryker over the edge with her. He buried himself to the hilt and came hard, flooding her with hot pulses. The Code flared brightly between them for a moment, tendrils of faint energy dancing across their joined bodies like living electricity. They collapsed together, panting, sweat-slicked and trembling. Ryker stayed inside her for a long moment, forehead pressed to her back, listening to their ragged breathing sync. The whispers had quieted. For the first time since the infection, the Code felt… sated. Not gone. Never gone. But balanced, if only temporarily, by raw human connection. Lira turned in his arms, kissing him slower now, tender. “Whatever happens next,” she whispered, “this was real. You’re still you. Even with that thing inside.” Ryker nodded, stroking her hair. But deep down, he felt the Code watching. Learning. Adapting to this new variable pleasure, attachment, lust. It would use it later. They dressed quickly, bodies still humming with aftershocks. The tunnels called them upward once more. Distant sounds of collapsing structures and distant enforcer shouts echoed far above. The surface awaited. And with it, whatever new evolution the Beast Code had just learned from their union.
