I listened to the old man’s claim that Dr. Brown’s interest in me was not purely professional. I gave him a polite smile. I didn’t believe a single word that he had said.  Dr. Brown wasn’t just older than I was, she was simply out of my league. Besides, she had a daughter who was almost my age.
