I quickly walked away from George, my heart still pounding in my chest. That brief moment when our lips touched—it wasn’t supposed to happen. I didn’t mean for it to happen. And yet, it did.
As I walked, I tried to push the thought out of my head. I couldn’t let myself think about it. It didn’t mean anything, right? It was just an accident, something that shouldn’t have happened. Maybe it was just because I was overwhelmed, because of everything that had been happening.
