Ch. 2 Amara POV

1009 Words
Ch 2. “Amara! Have you gotten anything done?” I hear Vera ask as she comes into the kitchen. “Yes, I have everything I need to begin out and working. I also was able to get the delivery of everything moved up so they should arrive any minute with the remaining supplies. I have a menu here for your approval and called the dry cleaners for the uniforms. They should be ready for pick up in another hour. I will bring them back and ensure each is perfect for the festival.” I report to Vera. “Thank goodness you got something right for once. I have a crew coming to decorate. Ensure they have all they need to complete the job. Also, Amara, we are hosting guests who are arriving early. The packs closer to the royal pack will be arriving tonight due to the long distance.” My eyes grow as Vera begins adding to my list of things I need to get done. “The alphas and betas will be arriving tonight before dinner. We will need to serve an additional 15 people tonight.” Vera continues to rattle of what she wants done before dinner. “....clean the rooms, ensure the meal is completed and served, and oh, Amara, I best not have any issue from you today or else..” Vera finishes as she turns to walk away. I begin making a list of everything Vera said to ensure I don't forget. I have to get out of this pack, and obedience seems the only way I will have the freedom to escape. I began to spend most of the day working on Vera list. Dinner was at 7. If I had to serve 30 people tonight, I need to get to work on dinner. I go to change clothes as im still in the coffee stained clothes from this morning. The omega were over cooking for most of the pack, but it was my job to cook the meals for the higher ranked pack members. Gamma, betas, and alphas had a separate dining room they used except on special occasions. I enjoyed cooking, but I was placed in the position to further the humiliation. I was to serve the family I should be dining with. I never understood why I was the stain, but I eventually learned to accept it until I could get away from this terrible place. … After a couple of hours, dinner was ready for serving. I began carrying the dishes into the dining room and placing them on the long table. Once the table was set, the meal served on the table, I opened the doors and went to return to the kitchen when I heard someone speaking. “I can't believe the Stone Brothers are here!” I hear Jade excitedly tell Vera. As I hide behind the kitchen access door, I listen to what they are discussing. “Yes, dear, they just arrived and are settling in their rooms. They will be joining us at any moment.” “Maybe one of them is my mate!” Jade whispers loudly. “We can hope so, and if not, maybe they will choose you as their Luna. I hear they will be choosing a Luna by the end of the ball.” Vera says. Before Jade can respond, I smell something delicious and grow closer to the room. Like sandalwood and mahogany. The smell becomes so divine as I begin to smell strawberries and vanilla. I feel a strange pull towards the room as I hear a deep voice from inside the dining room. “Luna Vera, thank you for hosting us a day early. This meal smells amazing!” The deep voice says. “Yes, Luna, thank you.” Another manly voice says. “Of course, we are so proud to finally host the festival here, Alpha. Please have a seat. I'm sure the others will join us shortly.” Vera says. I pull myself away from the door and walk further into the kitchen to continue making desserts for later. As time passed, I heard the rest of the dinner party come into the private dining room. As the only one in the private kitche, it isn't hard to hear. Werewolf hearing is pretty helpful, too. I find myself wondering about the guest for tonight. They smelled so good. I almost couldn't stand not to at least peak in. I waite, though, as I couldn't afford to get in trouble now. I was too close to freedom. I finished dessert just in time as the meal was over. I carried several different desserts into the dining room on trays. As I walked i, I was hit with that alluring smell again. But now it was stronger. It called to my wolf. “MATE!! MATES!!” Adira, my wolf, whospendsd most of our time healing my body and keeping us alive, yells at me. I see 4 huge men at the table get stiff in their chairs. When the 2 facing me look around and spot me, I see their eyes change colors. Their wolf's recognizing me. Not only did the 2 men from earlier stare at m, but 2 more me were sitting in front of sandalwood and strawberry turn. They smelled strongly of vanilla and mahogany. That's what I smelled earlie. It was them as they came in… I freeze in place, but none of us move. “What are you doing? Amara, bring us dessert already!” Vera snaps. I break from my trance and carry the trays in. I knew no mate would want me, and the moon goddess gave me 4? That's 4 times the rejection. As I set down the trays, I heard a growl. I look up to see Sandalwood. We lock eyes as he gets up slowly. I feel like prey as he moves towards me. Strawberry follows his lead and begins to get up. “Is everything alright alphas?” I hear Jade ask innocently.
