Chapter 28

1018 Words
Blaise Taylor Throughout this whole mission, Aidan and I were both required to keep in contact with our parents through letters that would be picked up every 2 days by a trusted member of the Italian Mafia and transported back to our Fathers. We'd both get replies 2 days after we sent our letters, normally stating what else they want us to do. Aidan's father normally included questions such as, asking if he had enough money or food and if he was okay, generally showing the worries that a normal father would have. My father on the other hand, only included messages about the mission and its importance. However, after repeated asking, he did let me receive one message from Hunter, that confirmed he was awake and that he couldn't wait to see me again. Aidan once also received a letter from Luca that he at first didn't let me read but being curious and having a slight morality issue, I read it as he slept. His letter was odd and although I didn't know Luca, his letter would have looked strange to anyone. He started out by asking if Aidan or I had sustained any injuries, then he went on to talk about the ideas he had that would improve the English Mafia. He ended the letter in a joking spirit asking if Aidan and I had slept together. I was disgusted and annoyed but in the next few days his words were forgotten by myself as Luca lacks relevance in my life. After sending off the letters to our parents about our final solution to getting into the Russian base safely, we received letters two days later. The letter was eloquently worded and emotionally distant, not representative of the words that should come from a parent. It coldly stated, that on agreement of both parents, while the solution was found to the problem of the Russian base, they wanted us to stay in Russia. They wanted us to find out who the Russian Mafia received their weapons from and the businesses they ran. This was in order to absorb the businesses and steal the loyalties of their trades after the Mafia had been destroyed. My father included his knowledge that the Russians were getting a massive gun shipment on Thursday, which was today. This gave us the plan of what we had to do to find out who the Russian Mafia trades with. "Guess we're not going home anytime soon then." Aidan utters, his words were intended to be in a comedic tone but his voice was laced with spite. "Hey, it will be fun! More time with me and we get to go on this cool little date tonight." The corners of Aidan's mouth turn up slightly, creating a smirk, one that was native to his face. "It's a date, is it?" I move closer to Aidan, my lips were inches away from his, "No." Laughing, I get up from my seat to get ready for our next mission that lay ahead of us. Aidan grabs my wrist and pulls me back towards him, he could tell he had annoyed me by controlling me and he loved that. "You sure you're okay?" He pushes our bodies together, and I smile like a teenager with a crush, "you wouldn't be showing signs that you actually cared for me, would you?" Aidan instantly is taken by surprise by my comment, I was being sarcastic but he seemingly didn't pick up on it, despite having done so, easily in the past. He steps away from me quickly and adjusts the sleeves of his shirt in a casual manner, "No, I just don't need you to be a liability tonight." I clench my fist, "f**k you, even with any injuries shoulder I could kill you right now." Aidan laughs humourlessly, "You should really watch that mouth of yours, amore." I mockingly laugh back at him, "Bite me, Romano." I grab my knife that I had placed on the table at some point in the week, twirling it in my fingers. "I believe you've had this conversation before Miss Taylor, but I'll remind you of the fact I'd love to."  "Oh yes I recall, but why live in the past, the future is so much more exciting, for example the next words I will say to you will be a exhilarating, for the both of us." Amusing myself with my own wit, Aidan looked less impressed as he probably had a few guesses as to what I was going to say. Despite him awaiting my next words, I don't speak. The whole time leading up to the mission, I was silent. Aidan and I both load up with many weapons of many varieties, placing them anywhere we could find a space. I was finally able to drive, and Aidan swore through out the whole journey as I had a habit of driving way over the speed limit, especially around sharp corners, while blasting music of any kind. I thought it made the drive more exhilarating but Aidan clearly regretted giving in and letting me drive. I parked two streets away from the dock, where the shipment was to arrive as to avoid raising suspicion.    "ready?" Aidan's desperate reply to get me to speak to him, made it hard not to laugh. "Blaise, you have to speak to me, stop being childish!" I get out of the car, still in silence. "Would you just f*****g speak to me, you f*****g brat!" He was finally angry. I grin, "Fuck." I take a dramatic pause, "You." I could hear Aidan's teeth grinding against each other as a consequence of the rage he was suppressing. "Come on then, we haven't got all day." Aidan's nostrils flair with anger while he stalks towards me in a murderous fashion. "Is there a problem mate?" I say, one eyebrow raised and a disgusted look plastered on my face. "You." He spits out between the loud inhaling and exhaling noises his nose was making. Before I could speak again, Aidan stalked off, clearly determine to end the conversation.
