Alfred Heavy rain starts falling, lighting and thunder, completely soaked, yet I follow behind the old man. We are close, I can feel it. One after the other, the crowd starts dispersing. So does the construction crew, but I am not ready to give up yet. The water rises in the lake as we walk back and forth. It won’t be empty too long. I am dejected and angry when the water covers my shoes. I can’t see the mud and rocks anymore. The old man suddenly stops and bends to pick up what looks like a neck chain or a pendant. I can’t see it properly, but the expression on his face tells me that we have found what we came here for. We head back to the castle, soaked and muddy. The young inexperienced me would be asking the old man a lot of questions by now. I have been at this too long to know that
