I get into the guest bedroom and find Lilian sitting on the bed. She is wearing tracksuits and playing with my knife. It is clear that she was not planning to sleep. My guess is she does not trust her guards not to let Alfred in.
“I am surprised they let you come near me,” she says and gets up while I place the tray of food on the table.
I pull her in my arms and passionately kiss her. She does not ask any questions but wraps her arms around my neck and kiss me back. We are both breathless by the time I break off the kiss and look at her.
“I am ready,” she says under her breath and unbuttons my shirt. The noble me would stop her right now, but I am being stupid today. My whole future depends on it.
