CHAPTER 15

The rain had stopped by the time the sun began to rise over the East River, painting the New York skyline in pale shades of gold and pink. The High Council elders stood in the center of the ruined boardroom, looking at the broken furniture and the shattered glass. Elder Thomas walked up to Julian and Elena, who stood together by the window, their hands finally, completely intertwined. "The balance has returned," Thomas said, his old head bowing in respect. "The Manhattan territory is secure. The Vance line remains unbroken." He looked at Elena, a soft smile touching his wrinkled lips. "Welcome to your circle, Luna Elena." As the council members left to finalize the legal details, the office fell into a quiet, peaceful stillness. Marcus had been taken to the medical bay, the mercenaries were gone, and the human markets were about to open with Obsidian Holdings' stock prices projected to skyrocket after the news of the unified pack victory. Julian turned Elena toward him, his hands resting gently on her waist. The dark stubble on his jaw rubbed against her cheek as he leaned down, his eyes dark, soft, and entirely hers. "I don't deserve you," he whispered, his voice cracking with the residual emotion of the long night. "I know that. I know I have to spend the rest of my life earning back the trust I threw away in this very room." Elena looked up at him, her fingers tangling in the collar of his shirt. The hollow crater in her chest was gone, replaced by a deep, radiant warmth that vibrated with every beat of his heart. The bond had been forged in pain, but it had survived the fire, becoming something stronger, more resilient, and entirely modern. "We don't need a perfect lineage, Julian," she said softly, a genuine, beautiful smile lighting up her face. "And we don't need to fit into their ancient fairy tales." "Then what do we need?" he smiled, his lips hovering a millimeter from hers. Elena leaned in, closing the distance between them with a deep, passionate kiss that sealed their new contract not a corporate alliance, but a promise between equals. "We just need to calculate our own future," she whispered against his lips. "And according to my projections... we're going to be exactly where we belong.”
