CHAPTER THREE

This is the first time am doing business with spaceship company, they wants to change their company lawyer and they contacted my assistant whom passed their message to me. When we got to the restaurant, we went in and immediately a waitress walked up to us and asked “how many I help you ma’am?’” she asked me pretending not to have seen my assistant. I turned around to look at Sofia’s expression, I saw the hurt written on her face, that she is trying to cover up but wasn’t so successful.  “Yes, we are here with Mr Diego 1; 00 booking. She looked shocked when I used we not I and Sofia gave her a cold smile and thanked me with her eyes. “sorry ma’am I will lead the way” she took us to a private room. And left us at the door to the private.

 They booked a private room. I went in with my assistant; it’s a bright spacious room. With a round electric big table at the center of the room and chairs surrounding the table like it’s was a royal dinner party. It is really overwhelming, I like my meetings in a classy but a simple private restaurants. This is like a show off; they wanted to work with us not the other way round. What really their reasons are for wanting us to be their company’s attorney, I really don’t know. Something is really wrong. Am not saying we need clients, we only work with the best company in and outside the state. I don’t work with showoffs and rich spoiled brats. I know I was once one; but I had my limit then.  To make matters worse, they were late for the meeting.  “Let’s sit and wait for a few minutes”. Sofia said looking apologetic. I walked to the head chair for leaders and sat there to wait. I started checking my email with my phone. I sat there for what seem like two hours, when I decided that I’ve had enough I moved my eyes from my phone and saw Sofia trying to look comfortable and not breathe too hard and loud.

“Sofia pack your things we are leaving” I said already heading to the door.

“But ma’am they arrrrrrrrre , they are here” she shuttered . I looked up to see what would have been a handsome face, if not for the broken nose standing in front of me.

“So? I don’t care we are leaving, that all you should care about”. I told her hotly looking at the man in front of me eyeball to eyeball. Who does he think he is?  Do I look like whom they could mess around with? I don’t care.

“I have another meeting elsewhere; I don’t have time for you and your company now? I said walking away from him

“Who do you think you are, I was only twenty minutes late”. He arrogantly replied.

“I don’t care “. I continued walking to my car.

“if you are in need of an attorney call my PA for another appointment” I told him calmly but I was feeling anything but calm inside.

“Do you think your company is so mighty because we requested for you eh?”

“I don’t know, you tell me” I smiled coldly to him.

“you are so arrogantly no wonder, why your senior associate lost to a new graduate” he gave an evil chuckles .

I rewarded his chuckles with my own evil smile” I still wonder why you are so desperate for my company to be your company’s representative”. I went ahead to ask “what happened to the old one, did you scare them and why choose a failed firm according to you?” His face automatically went cold. Wait why the cold look? does he really think he can intimidate me. I left him standing there with his eyes and mouth opened like a fish. I walked away with my shoulder raised in victory. I turned to see Sofia still shocked, I know I behaved badly toward him. But he came late. I was having a really bad day, with the thought of my parents clouding my head, the dream and the feeling that am being watched.

I called a cab for Sofia before I drove off, leaving her still waiting for her drive to arrival. I don’t feel bad leaving her there because I’ve already called a cab for her, if that makes me inhuman so be it.  I drove toward the direction of my town house. I noticed that the road lane leading to my destination was blocked. I parked my car, I tried to see what was happening, still sitting in my car but I discovered that was impossible, then I came down from my car and walked toward the cause of the road block , when I got close I saw people gathering around in circle. Having a bad feeling about this, I still decided to go closer but the closer I went, I discovered I was getting cold and colder. I looked around me I saw people wearing tin wears because the weather is hot. Everybody around here is hot, why am I cold. Why does this scene looks and feel familiar. I kept walking closer without knowing my feet was moving, it kept going till I moved passed the crowds until I was looking at the ambulance ,police men, firefighters running around a red sport car that was smashed by a long bus.

The front sport car was totally crushed by the bus. When I tried to go closer to the red car, its seems to be calling to me but I could not resist. A police man stopped me.” Sorry ma’am you are not permitted to go close to scene” he politely told me. I know am not suppose to be there but something in me seems not to understand reasons or its doesn’t care. I know the protocol as a lawyer.  “sorry officer “. I turned to go but an officer suddenly took me to the corner of a parking lot and told me “ go to my car right now and get my parents’ anniversary gift from my car? he said hurriedly, looking around like something or someone was after him.

“Excuse me officer, how is it my business if you buy your parents a gift or not, I simply don’t care” i immediately tried to excuse myself but he blocked my exit.

“What are you doing, who gave you the right to block my exit “I asked looking up. But when I looked him in the eyes. I saw that the color of his eyes had changed from what it was before three minutes ago. It was green but now it was mixed with ocean blue. When I saw it ,i was so shocked to the extend that everything around me became blur but when everything was about to go total black I felt a hard slap on my left cheek. I came back to my senses but still do not understand what was happening here ,like right now?.

“Why did the color of your eyes change, what gift are you talking and lastly shouldn’t you been working with your fellow officers”. I asked really needing the answer. Why am I freaking out, maybe this bad luck is happening because of my dream last night?

“Just make sure you take the gift with you” after saying that he immediately fell down.

It was like something went out of his body. I just stood there doing nothing but looking at him. I was so frightened I stood like a status for some minutes before he woke up, looked around his surrounding and looked at himself laying on the floor, he quickly stood up with a surprised look on his face, he looked at his uniform, he turned and face me with a questioning look on his face “what the hell happened here?” he asked still in shock.

He appears to be in shock, which was weird. He is the one with an odd behavior,” shouldn’t I be the one asking that question “I told him seriously.

“What do you mean; I was talking with my partner, when I saw ray stopped you, the next thing I found myself laying down here”

“Are saying you don’t remember what you told me to do? I asked him in shock.

“Ma’am I will repeat myself for the third time, what are you talking about”. He had a slight angrily looks.

“If you don’t know that okay, it’s nothing really”. I smiled although I was freaking the hell out.

If he doesn’t know what happened, why should I bother myself with strange happenings of today? I sighed. i turned, bid him goodbye and left him still standing there with a confused look .i walked to my car , entered and reversed to travel the other road , I need to get home and rest I really need it.  I drove in circle, I knew that but why was I driving in circle. I decided to use my car GPS but that got worse it kept saying go left, go left, till I found myself at the accident crime scene.

I suddenly felt a tin breath on my ear and a calm, angelic and a very clear voice that spoke loud and clear “go get my gift”
