I last attended the Autumn Ball three years ago. I remembered what Vanessa wore. It was purple with silver sequins moving as we danced. I also remember thinking that she would soon be kidnapped by some shitty lucky guy, in whom she can fall in love. I would hate the bastard just to show up in sight and check him in detail to see if he deserved her at all, and of course he wouldn’t deserve her. It was also the year Leah and I last showed up at some pre-wedding ceremony that was scheduled for early December ... just a week later. Vanessa simply radiated in her lovely dress, but I have no idea what Leah - the woman I was supposed to marry - was wearing that evening. Since then, I haven’t cared about festive events at all.
