Chapter 17 He Always Has Bright Ideas

832 Words
When Carolyn walked out of the office building after work, she saw Ellis waiting for her by the fountain in the flower garden not far away. Wearing his usual hoodie, jeans and white sneakers, Ellis looked very youthful and sunny, if the outline of his face was not so cold and sharp. Ellis watched as Carolyn approached him step by step, feeling that it was inappropriate to put his hands anywhere, so he stuck them in his pants pocket to cover his nervousness. Carolyn is also nervous and clutching her bag strap, the closer she gets to him, the weaker her legs become. Suddenly the fountain in the middle of the flower garden started, and both of them were caught off guard by the water. Ellis pulled Carolyn over and lifted his hoodie to cover her up. They were so close to each other that they forgot to react for a moment. Carolyn leaned on Ellis's chest, listening to his clear and strong heartbeat, as if everything in heaven and earth had stood still, leaving only her and him. An older woman passed by, thinking it was a couple's flirtation, shook her head and said, "Why do you think it's romantic? Your clothes are getting wet, be careful of catching a cold." Hearing this, Ellis and Carolyn came back to their senses and rushed away. Their clothes were already half wet and they were both slightly embarrassed. Ellis proposed, "Let's go to the mall first to change into a set of clean clothes." "Okay." Carolyn blushed. When they came to the nearest mall, Ellis went straight to the brand-name store. Carolyn was a bit hesitant, she could not afford to buy brand-name clothes. Ellis saw her concern and made an excuse, "I had a membership card at this store before and there is money in it." Carolyn didn't think much about it, she already had unconditional trust in Ellis. Not to mention where did Ellis get the money, she didn't even notice such an obvious bug as why he had a membership card for a women's clothing store. While Carolyn was changing her clothes in the fitting room, Ellis conspired with the shopkeeper to follow his words at the checkout later. Carolyn chose the cheapest dress in the store and came out of the fitting room to see that Ellis had already changed his clothes from the men's store next door. "Please, just this one." Carolyn said politely to the sales clerk. Ellis saw that Carolyn obviously preferred another pink one, but chose the cheapest one, so he took the pink dress and handed it to the clerk together with the checkout. "No, I'll just choose one, just the cheapest one is still $1999." Carolyn stopped Ellis, whispered to him. "There is still a lot of money in the card. I can't use it anyway." Ellis smiled and said to the clerk again, "Please help me wrap this one up." After changing into clean clothes, Ellis took Carolyn to dinner, and actually went to the H&R Club. Does Ellis often come to such a high spending place? Carolyn had to feel puzzled, was it because Ellis was a big spender that he had no savings? But he didn't have a decent job, so where did he get the money to spend? Was it from the Logan family? Anyway, this meal is Carolyn's treat, she doesn't have much money, so she mustn't overspend. But Ellis had just bought her two dresses, she couldn't be too cheap, she thought about how to find a good reason without losing her manners. When Ellis saw Carolyn hesitate, he immediately understood. He didn't want to use the same excuse as buying clothes, so as not to be suspected. He had a bright idea and said, "10% off for dining here today." "Really?" Carolyn looked around with wide eyes and didn't find any discount signage. Ellis took out his cell phone and sent a message to Willy to ask him to help this. It turns out that H&R Club is also the Bowman family's property. Soon the manager came out elegantly and told the customers that all the meals today were discounted by 10%. The corners of his mouth twitched twice after he said that. The manager didn't understand what his young master was up to, how much money they had to lose this way! Carolyn cheered and lightly clapped her hands twice, as happy as a little girl with a beautiful doll. Her beautiful face attracted Ellis's gaze, and her smiling eyes were even sweeter. Ellis's heart moved, his throat knot moved up and down, and he suddenly had an urge to take her into his arms. Carolyn turned her head and met his deep eyes. The first time she looked so close and so carefully at Ellis, he was really handsome. Her face couldn't help but rise a layer of red, a pair of bright big eyes blinked. Her shy look made Ellis even more fascinated.
