Doug Scott has been hiding in his office for the past few days. Carolyn didn't want to go to him, but she was anxious about the lack of projects. Tomorrow is Friday, the company will hold a collective weekly meeting. Although she is a newcomer, she does not want to do nothing at all.
Carolyn hesitated for a moment and knocked on the door of Doug's office. "Mr. Scott, please assign me a task."
Doug's triangular eyes turned, and in his heart he calculated to give Carolyn the easiest job. He was warned by Mr. Dart not to let Carolyn suffer in the company. So Doug found a pile of information and handed it to Carolyn, "You can enter this information."
Carolyn wants to do business to make money, not just a clerk to record information. But it's better to have a job than no job at all, so she had to take it. Back to her seat, Carolyn entered the product name, code, specifications, packaging, design, advantages and other different categories. Doug didn't explain when she needed to finish it, so Carolyn did it as soon as possible, trying to finish it so that she could follow up a business tomorrow.
At 6:30 p.m., the office staff were almost all gone, and Carolyn was still tangling with excel until a message came in.
"Are you off work?" It was Ellis.
Carolyn almost forgot about the dinner with Ellis in the evening. Thinking of last night's embarrassment, she replied to him, "Sorry, I still have work to do. Can you go to dinner first?" Then she transferred fifty dollars to him. Carolyn thought it should be enough, she usually spent ten dollars at the food stall to get dinner.
Ellis did not reply. Half an hour later, he appeared in front of Carolyn with a box of sushi, a bucket of KFC and two cups of coffee.
Carolyn was startled and looked around the empty office, surprised, "How did you get up here?" You can't get into this office building without a work badge, and you can't get into their company without an access card.
Ellis's lips curved up in a nice arc, his deep eyes with a soft light, he said seriously, "I told the security guard that my girlfriend was working overtime alone at the company. She was scared and needed me to accompany her. So he brought me up."
"Don't be ridiculous." Carolyn shyly sat down and pretended to read the information, but her hand shook and clicked the form off. "Ah!" She slapped her forehead in chagrin.
"It's okay, it can be recovered." Ellis bent down, took the mouse, and recovered the data in two or three clicks. However, he was reluctant to move because in this position he could just smell the fresh fragrance on her hair.
Carolyn blushed even more and hurriedly pushed a chair over to Ellis. After eating, Carolyn continued to enter the forms. Ellis went outside the corridor and made a phone call. Shortly after, Parker came up and brought the notebook to his boss. Ellis sat next to Carolyn and turned on the computer and worked. Carolyn curiously glanced at the pages on his computer, they were all in French. She was curious. Ellis's work was not good, but he needed to read these. At almost ten o'clock, Carolyn finally finished recording all the information. Seeing that Ellis was still concentrating on the French business section, a wave of admiration rose in her heart. The outline of his side face was impeccable under the bright yellow light. When Ellis turned his face to meet her obsidian eyes, Carolyn felt her heart fluttering and panicked. She hurriedly closed her computer and packed her bag to hide her panic.
The whole office building was quiet, only one security guard was sitting downstairs at the reception desk watching the news. Seeing Ellis and Carolyn come out, he talked to them, "Sir, is this lady your girlfriend? I have an impression of her. She greets me every day. She is nice and pretty, you are really lucky."
Seeing that Carolyn did not explain, the joy in Ellis's heart stacked like waves, "Thank you."
Carolyn smiled and waved politely to the security guard, "Mr. Barton, it's ten o'clock. Be safe on your way back."
Today is Friday, there's a weekly wrap-up meeting this afternoon. Carolyn had no business to do, so she had to make a report on what she had learned this week about the company's products and the companies they had worked with in the past, and which products were suitable for recommending to regular customers. Carolyn had just sat down for a short time when she was called into the office by Doug. Carolyn thought she had a new task to give her.
But Doug looked miserable and pleaded, "Miss Palmer, I really didn't mean to make things difficult for you when I asked you to enter the information yesterday, and I didn't ask you to finish it in a day. How about this? I will sort out the sales department's projects every week, and you can pick them at your leisure."
Carolyn froze, instead of feeling joy, she felt a cold feeling creeping up her back. She saw that Doug's right hand was wrapped in gauze today and could not hold the cup, so he had to hold it with his left hand. Could it be that Doug was beaten up by that Mr. Dart again, and that it was because he had offended her again? Carolyn carefully recalled, but she really did not know that Mr. Dart. Is it possible that someone she knows hired Dart to beat up Doug for her? She immediately thought of Ellis, who had broken the hand of the man at the entrance of the bar without mercy, and must have done the same. Thinking about it, Carolyn worried that Ellis might get himself into unnecessary trouble by helping her.
In the afternoon meeting, Carolyn acted quite calmly, and Doug complimented her in front of the supervisors for taking things seriously as a newcomer. One of the executives recognized Carolyn as the daughter of the Palmer family and looked at her with a special meaning. Carolyn did not notice. Although she was the daughter of the Palmer family, she had rarely been taken out to parties and other events since she was a child. It was always Julian and her stepmother Alina who made the limelight. Her father would only bring her along when they were in contact with the Logan family. So few people knew this unloved daughter of the Palmer family.
