Felt nothing

OLIVIA I don’t know how long I’ve been staring at Sophie. It’s like I’m still dreaming. My heart is pounding. “Sophie…” “One and only.” She said with a smile. She pushed the gate so she could get inside. She surveyed the whole house. She looked at me. “Where’s Wilson?” I cleared my throat. “He’s in the office.” She looked at me carefully. I looked at her too. “Good. I want to talk to you, Olivia.” I got stiffed at what she said. I cleared my throat because her voice was serious. Is this what I’m afraid of? I closed the gate and led her into the house. She immediately sat down on the sofa and removed the scarf around her neck. “It’s still hot here.” She sighed. I arranged the riser Wilson had given me in the case, Sophie’s gaze went there. “He’s so sweet, isn’t he?@ “Yeah. We’re trying to work things out.” I said seriously. “I’m happy for you. I made the right decision.” “What did you just say?” I looked at her in disgust. His did it turn out right? If only she knew the suffering I was going through then. “Olivia.” “How can you say that, Sophie?! You betrayed me! You set me up!” I said angrily and faced her. “If you didn’t want to marry Wilson in the first place, you should have just ran away! I wished you didn’t put me in this situation! How dare you do this to me! I’m your sister.” “It doesn’t matter! Are you happy now? Aren’t you happy that I gave him to you?” “Before I felt the pleasure,I suffered a strange hardship at his hand. He manhandled me so many times! I cried every night! He f**k all his bitches in this f*****g house and he didn’t care is I heard it or not! Do you hear me, Sophie?! He didn’t care about me!” Sophie looked stunned after she heard me burst out. “He… Does He manhandle you? But Wilson isn’t like that, he’s sweet, caring and a gentleman—“ “You left him, Sophie. He loves you dearly. He’s wasted! He became a beast the moment you left him dumbfounded at your wedding reception. He was so mad at me. He blamed me because he thought I was the only one who motivated you to leave him.” Her expression softened. “Olivia.” “And not that everything is okay, he accepts me as his wife, you come back. Don you think that you will confuse him? You will take what makes me happy again. Sophie, you’re so unfair.” My voice trembled. She shook her head. She held my hands. “No. I won’t steal him from you, Olivia. When I left him, I turned my back on how I felt about him.” “Bullshit! Why did you leave him?” “I was choked by his love. I wanted freedom but I can’t because I’m tied to his contract with papa. I never intended to set you up, but I was desperate that time. I’m sorry, Olivia.” “You are a selfish b***h!” I said angrily. She took a deep breath. “Yeah. I’m a selfish b***h. I’m sorry I hurt you, Olivia. I just wanted you to be happy so I did that thing.” “Please,” I said emphatically. She gasped. “Olivia, don’t do this to me.” “Damn it, Sophie! Get out!” I shouted. Her eyes turned red and her tears dripped. “Olivia, don’t you miss me?” “No. I don’t want to see your face at the moment.” I missed her. I missed my sister and best friend but what can I do? I also need to get angry. If I don’t get angry, she won’t grow old, and she might do it again. She’s crying. “I’m sorry, Olivia. It’s all my fault. I sacrificed you for my freedom. I’m a terrible human being. I don’t deserve you as my sister. I thought If I tied Wilson to you, you will be happy. I know you suffered a lot at papa’s hands. But, I was blinded with a desperation so I didn’t even think about the what ifs. I’m sorry. I’m sorry.” “Sophie.” “I went to Italy to hide from you. Because I don’t know what other face I’ll put on you after what in did. I’m so ashamed of you.” I hugged her. Her body was shaking. Her eyes blurred with tears. I felt the pang of pity. “There, there.” I comfort her. I really can’t afford to be mad at her for too long. She apologized already. It’s okay for me to hear that she is very sorry for what she did. I walked away and ran to the kitchen. I fetched water but I stopped when my phone rang. I took it out of my pocket and immediately averted when I saw that Wilson was the caller. “Wilson,” I said hoarsely. “s**t. Atlas, you answered my back. You got me worried.” He said worriedly. “Wilson, I’m not going there anymore,” I said weakly. He didn’t not spill for a few seconds. “Your voice is different. What happened? Where are you?” “I’m just at home. You don’t have to feel worried, I’m fine.” “I’m on my way home. I’ll be there in ten minutes.” “What?” My chest throbbed with excitement. No! He should not see Sophie here. How is that? “I know something weird is happening.” “Wait! Wilson —“ It’s no use. He has already hung up. I have Sophie a glass of water. She took that and drank. I say sat down next to her. “He’s on his way home.” Sophie looked at me. “Wilson?” I nodded. “Is it alright if I talk to him, Olivia? I want to apologize for all the s**t I did.” I nodded again. I took a deep breath. I hope I made the right decision. It’s now or never. In case Wilson still loves Sophie, I’d better find out early. I don’t run anymore. Wilson’s car arrived in a few minutes. I opened the door of the house and it was right down the car. “I’m glad you’re safe.” He approached me and kissed me hard in the lips. He moved a little and frowned. “Your eyes are puffy. Did you cry?” “Wilson, I…” I averted my gaze. “Someone wants to see you. She’s waiting in our living room.” “She?” I pulled him inside. Sophie stood up when she sat us enter. “Hi, Wilson smith.” Her voice sounds so angelic. I felt Wilson stiffen next to me. Now you say I have value in your life, Wilson. Show me that I am more important than her. “So … Sophie.” He was shocked. “You are back.” “I am.” Sophie Said smiling. I can’t breathe at what’s happening. Wilson’s grip tightened on my hand. I looked up at him and he was looking at me. His eyes are worried. I smiled sparingly. He sighed and shifted his gaze to Sophie. “Why are you here?” Wilson said coldly. “I want to talk to you.” He smirked. “Talk, huh? Let me guess. You want to explain?” Sophie nodded. “Wilson, I’m so—“ Wilson raised his hands so Sophie will stop speaking. “No need, Sophie. I don’t care anymore. Just, leave, please.” I was no longer surprised by Wilson’s behavior. He’s hurt. I pressed my lips together. I gasped as Wilson squeezed me by the waist and pressed against his body. “Sophie, let’s just move on with our lives. I don’t want to hear your explanation because I don’t want you to confuse my mind. I feel nothing towards you anymore. So, stay away from me and my wife.@ Feel nothing anymore? Oh my God. “Will”. He looked at me. Don’t be so harsh on her. She just came back.” “No. It’s fine, Olivia. He’s right, maybe i should leave.” She took the bag to the side and slung it over her shoulder. She smiled at me sparingly and left the house. I tried to chase her but Wilson stopped me. “She knows the way out, Olivia.” “Will, she’s my sister. I want to comfort her.” I said weakly. He sat down on the sofa and pulled me to sit on his lap. I sighed as his arm wrapped around my waist and buried his face in my chest. “Honey.” I stroked his hair. “We should have listened to her explanation. You know…” “I thought, we’ll give our marriage a try. Why do you seem to be giving me away?” “But it’s Sophie, isn’t it? Here she is Wilson why don’t you just stop it.” He took a deep breath. “Is that what you’ve always thought of? That you’ll let me go when every Sophie comes back?” I bowed. “I just want you to be happy honey.” “Am I not happy yet?” I looked at him. He caressed my cheek. “Clear your mind with the thought of me leaving you, okay?” I smiled sparingly at him and nodded in response, “okay.”
