I took a long sip of my warm coffee as I waited for Aria to arrive at the small coffee shop near the apartment finally.
I had told Reid to give me time to decide, and he did. But like the cold bastard he was, he only gave me two days to figure everything out. This man seriously dared to come back into my life after three years and decided to provide me with two days.
I looked over at Elias, who read his book silently at the seat across from me, looking as innocent as ever. I did not want my son to go through the hardship of everything.
I wish Reid never came back in my life because now not only was I scared of losing my son, I was also terrified of Elias meeting his father officially.
"Hey, Anna. Sorry, I was trying to get here as fast as possible, but I got stuck-,"
"Did you give my address to my husband?" I cut Aria off, not wanting to hear her rant about why she was late.
She looked at me with a surprised and deplorable look. Aria was beautiful. She had short curly hair with rosy cheeks and a slim face. She looked like her mother.
"I'm really sorry. I tried not to tell him, but I could not help it. He was so irresponsible when he knew he had a son," she placed a hand on Elias's head, who gave her a sweet smile. "We were just so tired of him, and he needed to start getting his s**t together,"
"So Reid knew he had a son. You told him,"
"Yes, I did. I told him the day you told me you were pregnant, and I thought telling him would make him change, but clearly, he doesn't care," she said.
I knew it. Reid doesn't care. He was aware of the fact that my son. His son. Our son was born, and he didn't care.
"Why come now?" I asked.
"I don't know. Maybe he changed his mind," she said, placing her hand on Elias's head stroking it. Elias smiled up at her before returning to his book.
"Ya, I doubt that," I mumbled.
"When you are going home?" she asked me.
"We were going to head back right now, but now that you're here, do you mind watching him? I'm just going to go to the store and check up on everything,"
"Of course," she said, giving me a smile which I returned.
-
I arrived at my bookshop. My book shop. To be able to say that feels like a dream come true.
I have been working so hard ever since I left Reid.
This was my dream from the beginning, and now that I finally fulfilled it, I couldn't be happier.
This place was something I accomplished on my own. I put my good swear and tears into making this a reality.
"Hey, boss!" One of my employees, whose name was Alex, said.
He was a young man. He's still in his freshman year of college, but he worked hard. He was a good employee, a little bit clumsy but overall really great.
"Hey, Alex!" I greeted him with a smile. "How's everything been?" I asked.
"All has been great. Who of thought there would be so many bookworms," he chuckled.
"You really would be surprised," I said with a giggle. "Now, I'll let you get back to work," I waved him goodbye and headed into my office.
I smiled when I noticed a hot cut of coffee placed on my desk with a note that read.
I know you'll need this ;)
- love, Chris.
Chris was one of my good friends I made while moving here. He also helped me a lot during the bookstore. He lived across my apartment, and Sam loved him a lot as well.
Chris was a handsome man, and with his pearly blue eyes and charming smile, I would be lying if I said I didn't develop a crush on him.
And I really liked him being around. He was good to Sam and me.
"Ah, I see you got my note," I felt him come up and stand right behind me.
I turned around to have his face literally mere inches away from mine, and I quickly took a step back with an awkward giggle.
"Yes! Thank you," I said, gesturing to the coffee. "You know me too well," I told him.
"What can I say, neighbour? I'm just that awesome," he winked at me, and I felt the butterfly in my stomach erupt, and I felt nervous all over again.
Though Chris was a good guy, I knew I could never be with him. I knew Reid and I were no longer together, but it still felt wrong when we were still technically married.
But I really shouldn't be thinking that's since Reid has never even thought about it when we actually we together.
Just thinking about that man made my blood boils in rage, and I could feel hot in anger.
"Are you okay, Anna?" Chris asked, and just the sound of his voice made me feel better.
"Ya, sorry. I was thinking bout something else," I told him.
"Is everything okay?" Chris was always so nice, and he made sure I felt comfortable in every sense. I always have felt comfortable sharing things with him.
He knew about what happened with Reid. He knew about everything.
"Elias's father came over yesterday," his eyes widen in surprise.
"Are you serious?" He asked.
"Yup! He came over and demanded that he was part of Eli's life, and if I don't let him, he will take my son away from me," I said, sinking onto my office chair.
"That a jerk!" he spat.
"I just don't know what to do now. Cuz I don't wanna lose Eli?" I hung my head low, staring at the photo on my desk. It was a picture of Elias and me when he had just turned 3.
He smiled so big, and he looked so happy, and I knew I could never lose my son. He was my whole life.
And if I had to let Reid in his life keep my son, then that's what I'll do.
"You're never going to lose him, Anna. He's your son, not his, so don't you worry," he told.
"Thank you, Chris. But Eli is young, and I do not want him to go the other anything that will affect him. Though as much as I hate it. I'm going to allow Reid," I said.
Now that I've said, I can't back down no matter what. This is it—this my final decision.
Reid Hall is going to a father.
