“Damek.” The name remained suspended heavily between them. Rain continuously struck the apartment windows while the city outside blurred beneath gray midnight skies. Jayda sat silently at the edge of the bed now, blanket wrapped loosely around her while Faris stood several feet away near the dresser. The distance between them suddenly felt enormous.
