“What’s with the loud noise—”
Damek wasn’t expecting everything right before his eyes. Not to his idea that opening his eyes would give him a great feeling of nervousness. Who would’ve had not if Damek would see Jayda holding the lamp shade over Gon with a soft pillow to shield himself?
“How could you accuse me just by a shoes? Are you serious?” Gon yelled, face hiding with the use of pillow on his hands.
“I don’t know! I believe everyone is a suspect! And how could you be so serious when you asked me if I already caught the killer?” Jayda yelled back.
“What? What do you want me to do? Laugh while asking you about it? I’m not insane!”
“I will call the police!”
Damek shut his eyes again as he bolted from bed. The two were not yet aware that he was awaken by their loud voices. It was not really good for Damek’s ears as he still felt dizzy, but he couldn’t stop them if he would just talk nicely.
“Enough! Both of you!” Damek shouted. “I thought after getting a sleep, I would feel better, but what are you guys doing in the middle of the night?”
His voice was all over the four corners of the room as he was too irritated.
Gon and Jayda both looked at Damek whom already sitting on bed. Jayda slowly put back the lamp shade on the side table as she got a grip of herself. They were surprised by his temper. His face didn’t have any trace of good mood, brows knitted, and his forehead had already drawn lines.
“Oh, you’re awake...” Gon innocently uttered.
“How can I not wake up if the both of you are shouting?” he snarled. “And why in the first place are you two here in my room?”
Gon and Jayda gasped in unison.
“What?” Gon suddenly changed his expression into some monster in front of a prey. “You seriously don’t have any idea why?” Then he threw the pillow just right on Damek’s face.
“What the hell? Why don’t you just answer me instead of throwing this at my face?”
Hands on his waist, Gon replied, “Fine. Let me remind you what happened, you dimwit...”
“Yes. I’m in love and heartbroken,” Damek answered, smiling. “Did you know what made me broken?”
“You poor guy,” Gon whispered as he shook his head. “Does it really hurt that much?”
“Of course.” It was like an answer from a kid who hurt his knee when tripped. “My poor heart.”
“Move on. She got a boyfriend already.”
“How?” Damek asked it with his eyes barely closed. “Can you find me a heart donor? I want a heart transplant. Change my heart right now. I’m willing to pay any amount. Name your price!”
Gon smiled and crossed his arms. He was just staring at Damek which head was a little swaying. He was a little drunk already.
“If only a Surgeon like me could ease a broken heart with heart transplant, I would be willing to do your surgery right away. But unfortunately, it will never be the way to move on.”
Gon suddenly heard him hiccuped. He added, “Stop drinking already.” But he just ignored him.
Gon let out a sigh. “Stop drinking. You had too much already! I’ll drop you to your place later, so stay here, okay? Don’t make any more trouble.”
Damek had just nodded his head before he curled up on the couch. Gon shook his head as he finally went outside his office.
After his meeting and rounding, Gon headed back quickly to his office only to learn that Damek was not in the couch anymore.
“Damek?” he called once he entered his office, but Damek didn’t response. Until he heard a noise coming from the bathroom.
“Damek!” he called once more and inched towards the bathroom at the corner.
Gon clicked his tongue upon seeing him lying asleep, wasted and drenched in the tub. He almost bathed himself with clothes on when Gon realized that he was perhaps slipped himself.
“What on Earth have I done wrong to get punished by taking care a stubborn and jerk like you?” Gon whispered as he stared at him. “Damek? Come on, get up! I’m taking you to your place!”
Few minutes of driving and they arrived at the hotel, and when they were finally in front of Damek’s room, Gon suddenly received a call he couldn’t answer yet as he was carrying a big guy on his back. Until he received a call from the hospital.
“Damek, I have an emergency,” he said to him although he was certain that he was not yet sober to fully understand what he was trying to say.
Gon tucked him on his bed. He added, “You can take care of yourself, right? Or should I call Jayda to at least look after you? Ah, I really have no time. I’ll be off now. I really need to go back at the hospital.”
“Um...”
It was almost seven. Gon had nothing to do, but to leave Damek already. He got a call from the Operating Room and he was needed there to do and emergency heart transplant.
“I decided to go back here after the surgery went well to at least look if you’re doing fine,” Gon further said. “In spite the fact of being tired and late, I came here, but I saw Jayda sleeping just right beside you. She obviously took care of you.”
It was true, however, Jayda almost coughed by the truth that she dozed off inside the guy’s room. She shook her head and waved her hands saying no, but she was ignored.
“Hey, I didn’t take care—” Jayda was cut off.
“What did you just say?” Damek mused. He was on his knees on bed looking at Jayda then to Gon. He was obviously too oblivious that he did what he did. “I said all of those? Well, I thought... I thought I was just dreaming. I mean, the same with Jayda when she helped to me pee—f**k! No way!”
“Oh. Yes way, you asshole!” Jayda rolled her eyes. She was slowly getting used to it and it was the best way to do everytime she would get annoy with him.
“Oh that.” Gon chuckled. “Not just that, Damek. She also changed your clothes—”
“No, I didn’t!” Jayda cut in, eyes widened. But Damek’s eyes grew wider when he noticed that he was actually on different clothes.
“No. My body...” Damek cried as he hugged himself.
“Hey! Don’t act as if I raped you!” she snarled over Damek. “You told me you wanted to pee, but I saw you under the shower! How could I let you sleep on bed with wet shirt and everything?” Jayda defend herself in which she wished she hadn’t just spoken. She bit her lip in the end out of embarrassment. But Damek was embarrassed even more as he couldn’t remember everything well.
Gon grinned. “See?”
“What the hell? Why couldn’t I remember it all? All I thought was it was just a dream...” he exclaimed.
“Dream, my foot.” Gon snorted. “I had cringed myself so much because of you!”
“I’m so embarrassed!”
“Just be thankful that I didn’t let peed yourself in the hallway!” Jayda yelled. “Do you know how shameless you were?”
Just as she left the kitchen with a container on her right hand filled with her favorite Afritada and opened the door, something surprised her just steps away from her.
“Damek?” she whispered and blinked few times. She saw him outside his unit, lying on the floor, his back at the door, and looking so wasted.
Damek slowly looked to where he heard the voice then smiled upong seeing her.
“Oh, hi!” he greeted, voice obviously sounded drunk. “I think I’m lost here. I need to pee and I couldn’t find the bathroom. Can you help me?”
“Is he drunk?” she asked herself as she slowly inched towards him.
“I need to pee. Where’s the bathroom...”
Sitting near, Jayda looked at him with wonder in her eyes. She whispered, “I wonder how many bottles of alcohol have you taken down for you to look so devastated like that. Don’t you have shame to ask a woman to help you pee?”
Jayda noticed the key card almost half-seen in his pocket. She took it to open the door for him.
“I could just let you or ignore you, but for the sake of humanity you say, I’ll help you and to return the favor as well for helping and taking care of me last night,” she whispered.
Jayda grabbed his arm, and with all her strength, she pulled him up and took him inside the room.
“Oh?” Damek mumbled when he glanced to her. “You look like the girl... the girl who broke my heart.”
Damek smiled upon saying it. His voice was still as hoarse as it was earlier and his eyes were too lazy to remain open.
Jayda, who wasn’t aware that she was the one that Damek was talking about replied, “She looks like me? What a coincidence.”
“Um. But she’s a bad woman, not like you. You are kind. You are helping me to pee, right?” he asked.
When they finally reached the bathroom, Jayda almost throw him inside it. She said, “That’s your bathroom. Go ahead and pee, you disgusting punk! Try to wash yourself too. You stinks! No wonder why you got heartbroken. That girl made the right decision to dump you. You’re a headache!”
“I just wanted to die...” Damek said so helplessly. “I embarrassed myself so much in just a snap.”
“Enough for that,” said Jayda. “I just wanted to forget about it as well! What bothers me right now is that shoes.” Then the topic went back to Gon’s shoes.
“Wait. That shoes are familiar,” Damek commented as he stood up. He slowly inched towards Gon, looking at his shoes.
“Same shoes with the guy I have been suspecting for quite long.”
“I remember that,” Damek uttered, nodding his head. “But I don’t remember you wearing shoes like that, Gon.”
“Come on, guys.” Gon gulped. He felt like he was cornered so he slowly step backwards.
“Why the stuttering?” Jayda queried, voice were almost implying that he was the culprit.
It was not long before she felt eerie inside the room. She was with two guys she had met recently. Other than their names and job, she didn’t know so much more than that.
“Damek! How could you do this to me?” Gon stormed off. It was when Jayda got goosebumps and chills in her spine.
