Chapter Seven VICTOR “It’s going to be alright, Victor.” Gavin said, opening the passenger door of his beat-up old Toyota. We’d run back to the precinct parking deck to retrieve Gavin’s car. There were a couple of empty drink cups in the seat, so he pushed them to the floor. I sat down hard, my knees wobbly. “Thanks, Gavin.” I breathed. “I’m not sure I can keep myself together.” “You need to be strong. Be strong for Chad. Most likely it’s nothing serious, so take a few deep breaths, and we’ll be there in less than five minutes.” Gavin patted my knee and switched on the ignition.
