But I didn't let my guard down for a second. I headed out right away to a tiny town. I found a job washing dishes and doing odd jobs at a fast food joint that didn't ask for ID. The work wasn't complicated, but it was backbreaking. By day, I waited tables. At night, I had to scrub all the plates that had piled up throughout the day.
