Chapter 4Lawson
We were finally in the air on our private jet and heading back to Colorado. I don’t think I have ever felt so relieved before in my life to get away from a place. As soon as the plane had left the runway I could feel some of the tension leave my shoulders. I wasn’t going to relax completely though. They could still shoot us out of the air. I prayed that wasn’t the case. I needed to get my family home.
I looked over at Lakoda and noticed she was curled up in Tobias’ lap, sound asleep. He was slowly stroking her hair and staring at her. My brother loved his mate with a fierceness that surprised even me. I never thought it would be possible, but it was.
