The winds picked up as they flew over Canada.
“We’re getting close to the end of land,” Craig said. “We’re going to have to stop, guys. The wind is getting too strong.”
X projected a map on the windshield and tapped it. “There’s a town not far from here. It’s the last major area of civilization before the Arctic Sea begins. It will be a good place to stay until the storm blows over.”
Shortcut rewatched the footage of Jeanette’s broadcast. She stood in an Arctic landscape and said that the world was going to end. As she spoke, the ground shook, and an enormous gray city rose from the sea, cracking the ice. X recognized it from his memories, and he sensed fear, hatred, and evil emanating from it.
