Nathan stood in the doorway for a few moments and looked from Jennifer Pierson, who was curled up on the sofa, her feet tucked under her, to her father, who stared into space from the armchair he occupied.
“Have you found anything?” Jennifer asked when she realised the inspector was there.
Nathan nodded slowly as he left the doorway and entered the room. “We found a couple of envelopes hidden amongst your mother’s clothes. I’m sorry to say this, but their contents confirm that she was having an affair. I realise this isn’t going to be easy for you, either of you, but I am going to need you both to take a look at what we’ve found, if you wouldn’t mind putting these on.” He held out a pair of latex gloves to the Piersons.
