“Why did you say we are being fingerprinted along with David and Jennifer Pierson?” Havers asked of Nathan when they returned to the office.
“Because we are,” Nathan said. He could see the annoyance Havers was trying to conceal and it made him realise how inexperienced his reluctant partner was. He wished he had Stephen Burke to help him with the investigation, or even Detective Constable Georgius, who was his partner of recent times.
“But why? Surely you don’t think I’m the murderer, and since you’re now in charge of the investigation, you can’t be a suspect.”
