33 Adam was in that place again, the place he’d never wanted to return to, but somehow he’d gotten sucked back in. And he didn’t know how to get out. It was dark, but he assumed that was a matter of acclimating. Patience. Or maybe it’s because he wasn’t attached to anyone, inside anyone. No, that wasn’t it. It was dark because someone was making it dark, like throwing a hood over a falcon. Once Adam realized that, the all-enveloping blackness disappeared, like shedding the hood. It was night, and he was outside, so it was still dark.
